Unifi UNVR Pro

Ғылым және технология

In this video we take a look at the new Unifi UNVR Pro. I show you what comes in the box with the UNVR Pro and then we set it up. I take my backup configuration file from my UNVR and place it in the UNVR Pro to have all my cameras adopted into the new Unifi Protect controller
I want to thank Ubiquiti for sending me this to review. In saying that all the views are my own

Hi Cody, I just also updated my homes UNVR to the UNVR-Pro and your video was very helpful. One thing though, there is no need to loose your footage from the disks of the UNVR when doing this upgrade. Here is how I did it. I purchased 3 more brand new 4TB Seagate Skyhawk drives and installed them in the top 3 bays. My existing 4 Skyhawks got placed in the bottom 4 bays. I then connected the SFP+ to my aggregation switch and powered up the UNVR-Pro. Once I logged In I set it to Home Use > RAID 5 with Hot spare in Bay 1 and updated it to the latest FW and Protect version. Then I installed the backup from the UNVR to the new UNVR-Pro like you showed in the video. Following these steps the UNVR-Pro seemed to detect my old Raid 5 volume from the UNVR and expanded its size with 2 more of the new disks leaving the 3rd new one as the "Hot Spare". I did all this only 2 weeks ago but yet can still pull up old footage from last year. I hope all that makes sense and thanks for all the great videos they're extremely helpful. I hope Ubiquiti are sponsoring your channel!

Thanks as always for this video, I currently have a UNVR and just bought a UNVR Pro taking advantage of the sale for $399. I'm glad you mentioned about having access to the cameras just in case something goes wrong during the migration. Thank you I now feel more confident about the migration process. Cody you are the man!!!

As far as video file retrievals, what if you attached a HD to an external USB docking station? Will you see the HD with all the video files (.mp4) or some proprietary file system that only UNVR can read. Thanks again for ALL your great videos and teaching!!

Great video. I'm running Protect on a UDM Pro at the moment but looking to get the UNVR as soon as possible, I find the UDM Pro struggles sometimes. Also noticed your G4 Dome is only running at 100Mbps. Is that deliberate or a wiring issue?

Its a wiring issue that I just havent taken a look at. I only mounted my G4 dome for a video and have never been back up on a later to look at it since lol

Hello. first of all, as always, a good video. Do I see correctly that I do not need a cloud key for the unvr / pro? Can I connect it to a "stupid" switch and it gets a dhcp address / web interface?

  • @MactelecomNetworks

You do not need a cloud key or a UDM pro. the UNVR has Unifi protect built into it. You would just need a firewall/router that hands it an IP

Exactly, the UNVR & UNVR-Pro are standalone devices. You can even use a UCK-G2-PLUS (Cloud Key Gen2 Plus) as a stand alone NVR or add the network controller & other applications. I would recommend the UDM-Pro or UDM-Pro-SE for multiple applications and keep protect on a NVR
