Unifi U7 Pro - Do you know what WIFI 7 is?
Ғылым және технология
I unpack, set up and explore my first WIFI 7 device. I also give an overview of what WIFI 7 is, and how it is awesome.

QAM modulation has been used for 50-plus years in different data modems and now on of the larger uses is in Fiber Optic light modulation. from Q 4 to Q64 it divided the 360 degrees into the number of sectors that will contain different bytes of info to be transmitted. Cenia uses it for their 800Gbps fiber mux to give transport companies the ability to have enough bandwidth to feed the needs of Cell 5G users to have the amount of data throughput to handle.

That is super helpful John. Thank you so much 🙏
I was contemplating wifi 7 and realised I probably won't have many devices supporting this but wanted wifi 6 so I got the enterprise which should last me for a while.

Yep, that is fair. That is a great device too. 😊
Thanks for another great video. I am still fine with WiFi 5, we have enough bandwidth etc. No problem. The only thing i would like is the outdoor with directional antenna.. I would use that in home assistant to detect my car coming home and open the gate and some other automations. Just tried to order one but sold out in EU store 🙂 Keep up the good work

Thanks mate, appreciate the kind words. I really want at least one of the outdoor U7 devices too. I could get acres of WIFI 7! 😂 You think you could get it that accurate to detect your car/phone in time?
"Auto" under the channel section for the device is for the selection of channel only. It does not automatically adjust the channel width (this must be selected manually).
@LarsKlintTech
Ай бұрын
Ah, of course. And the "scan" function decides the channel width?
@mastiha
Ай бұрын
@@LarsKlintTechThe scan function displays the coverage of the currently selected width but does not make any changes. You need to adjust the width manually. A good starting point is 40 MHz for 2.4 GHz and 80 MHz for 5 GHz. The Unifi defaults are conservative because wider channels can create more noise for your neighbours, which is more significant in urban areas.

@@mastiha Please don't use anything other than 20MHz for 2.4 GHz in a city or even suburban area. The only point of 2.4GHz now is for low power, low bandwidth devices, so you really don't need the extra performance that a wider channel could provide. Further, you can only get 3 nonoverlapping channels with 20MHz on 2.4 GHz (1, 6, and 11) and with 40MHz, you'll likely start overlapping other channels and cause a lot of extra interference. Multiple devices sharing the same channel can handle each other quite well, but unaligned channels is very difficult for WiFi to handle. 80 MHz for 5GHz should be fine though as the 5GHz band has a lot more space and there will likely be a couple of spots being shared by other devices with 80MHz width. 160MHz on 5GHz will likely start to lead to interference from other channels though.

hi is the ap pulled into a 2.5 gb port on switch

Good question. I don't have a switch with 2.5Gb ports, so not in this case.

@LarsKlintTech

@@rrrrrrrr290 No, it will get the throughput of the connection you provide, whether that is a 2.5Gbps, 1Gbps, 100Mbit, or something else.

Specs on paper dont make sense when it can go to 5.7 Gbe (per device) but the port is only 2.5 Gbe. I will never understand why any company bothers with paper specs as it isnt real.
@LarsKlintTech

Yep, that is fair. I don't think any one device would use 5.7Gb either, but it gives some indication to the bandwidth and throughput it supports.
Hi I seee new toy in Your network and You gets me thinking: You Use agregated uplinks betwen ui devices? I mean to get biger bandwiew or biger conections on Your network - If not I thonk Your shud think about this I personaly buy USW Aggregation swich and conect that swich to my UDM SE via 10 gbit DACC cable with SFPP and uolink my SW24PoE with that swidh using 2 gbits agegate uplink using two DAC cables

I am not using aggregate uplinks, but I will look in to it. Thanks for the tip ☺

@@tomaszmilos Oh, I would love to have 10Gbit connections, but it is a ton of digging, which is expensive and time intensive. I am not prepared to that just yet ☺
The new AP's don't have bluetooth so if you have things like the Unifi Sensor, they will no longer work.

True, but I think that is the only device that is dependent on Bluetooth? 🤔
