Maybe.. Cynthia Hinds ? She only made a few songs with some friends in the 80s and then she didn't make any more songs for a long time. One of her songs, "Let's Fall in Love Again" was very popular in Brazil because of a false story that she was one of the victims of a famous American S3r14l K1ll3r ( I don't remember his name now, sorry ). But the girl who was killed is simply not Cynthia Hinds, The Singer, they just have the same name and there's this misunderstanding. The Victim Cynthia Hinds was k1ll3d when she was only 17 years old, Cynthia Hinds, the singer, is still alive today. Maybe it's not even her singing "That's Magic", but this story is so interesting to me that i think people outside of Brazil might find it interesting too. "Let's Fall in Love Again" is also very good. Edit: Gary Leon Rigdway, That's the name of the S3r14l K1ll3r.

Here’s my interpretation of the lyrics - Baby, what ‘cha wanna realize is You’re the here Everything starts with me Know that I mean Fella, what’s in your mind? Do down on the ground I believe, just the thing Best of lovin’ I’ll make you be true And take you off the loose How many feelings Are right you are Come into a BEST OF MAGIC! I’ll set you see free and love your life ??? So many again Can be alive It never ends NOW LETS GET A W H A T ? It’s the new It’s the birth From ?? unknown W H A T ? It’s the new It’s the way ??? true ??? *instrumental break* Baby what’cha wanna Realize you’re the here Everything starts with me Know that I mean Fella, what’s in your mind? Do down on the ground I believe, just the thing Best of lovin’ I’ll make you prove The beating heart a move So you can shining And never leave Lost your own way THATS THE MAGIC! I’ll ?? you so tight ‘Cause you can see the light You have to get along And go on till You make your day NOW LETS GET UP W H A T ? It’s the new It’s the birth ??? unknown W H A T ? It’s the new It’s the way And the true ??? W H A T ? It’s the new It’s the birth from ?? unknown I’m very familiar with the city pop genre and I’m fairly certain this song was written and performed by a Japanese artist. A lot of Japanese pop songs from this time have grammatically incorrect English and I think it makes perfect sense for a song used in a promotional tape like this to have the same. Chances are the lyrics never made complete sense and the writers wanted an American sounding song to accompany their video. Even if the lyrics are a bit wonky to a native English speaker it’s still a really fun song!

My attempt at lyrics (could 100% be wrong) Baby don't you wanna realize it's in you in here Everything starts with me, know what I mean Cover what's in your mind, [you could do that on the ground] I believe just to think that's the loving I'll make you be true and take you off the [...?] So many feelings around you are coming to all That's the magic I'll set you so free, and love you like a tree So many again can feel like it never [...?] Now let's get up, what It's the new, it's the first, verses unknown It's the new, it's the way, [ain't it true, oh] Baby don't you wanna realize it's in you in here Everything starts with me, know what I mean Cover what's in your mind, [you could do that on the ground] I believe just to think that's the loving I'll make it too, the beating heart can move so you keep shining And never be lost your own way That's the magic I'll keep you so tight, 'cause you can see the light You have to go and go on tell you make your day Now let's get up, what It's the new, it's the first, verses unknown It's the new, it's the way, [ain't it true, oh] What It's the new, it's the first, verses unknown What

Commented this on the s-vhs version too but, the synth, piano and vocals remind me a lot of Strawberry Switchblade. They seemed to be pretty popular in Japan in the 80s since i’ve seen recordings of interviews in Japan as well as appearing on Japanese television.

Don't take me too seriously, but I think I have a potential hint if you didn't search for it yet. It sounds a little bit like something from Stock Aitken Waterman (a British trio who produced many songs, that includes Never Gonna Give You Up and You Spin Me Round). The intro sounds like something from an extended remix from a song produced by SAW, and with the Pete Hammond's sound engineering (Pete Hammond was one of the sound engineers from SAW's label, PWL). Just know that PWL/SAW has a LOT of not so known artists who recorded with them, so considering that the accent might sound british, I think searching there would be great. But as I said, don't take me so seriously, because I don't know if this can be debunked with searching SAW's catalogue, or if people already proposed this and it was discarded.
