Any concern that the extreme close distance might skew results? Maybe receiver in SDS100 doesn’t discriminate as well when hit with such a strong signal? Just spitballing. Love your content, many thanks for the work.

I thought the same thing. I moved away about 30 ft and got the same results. Also I tried a facility that uses DMR and I was a few miles from them and I got the same results. So not sure what's going on lol

I have a 436 right here, and no problem with dmr, con, xpt, or cap. However, it decodes p25 - 1/2 a second slower than the 396xt

I think the LCD screen of the 436 is preferable to the 100 anyway. It should be better on batteries and easier to read in sunlight in my opinion. I recently picked up the BC125AT because the investment was low and it has the Close Call feature. So far this radio is easy to use and the close call feature really works. A recent trip revealed the frequency of the hotel staff, which could be important if an emergency arises. It has no digital capacity but has a great receiver and I like having banks for scanning. I put local HAM repeaters in one bank, FRS, GMRS, and MURS into a second bank, and then local EMS, fire, local sheriff's frequencies (no P25 though) and it does what I expect and can easily shut off one of the banks while scanning. Sometimes the local GMRS chatter ties up the radio and it's easy to simply push the bank number to turn it off. That 436 is going to be my next investment to gain the digital capacity.

I am a firm believer in having a straight analog scanner. I have 2 myself.

Question. In the same room are you on low power TX and is the attenuator turned on in the SDS? It looks like its being overloaded.

I put 2 passive attenuators on the SDS and it still did the same thing. I also tried it at a local facility that runs DMR and was getting the same results BUT if I scan those same frequencies of that facility that are in the database it decodes them fine.. 🤔
