@@Uhole oh hi, since I got you here I have a question that's been burning a hole in my brain. There a few parts of 2020 two that sound strikingly similar to parts of the old SeA and AaS EPs. Am I mistaken or are those homage to classic electrionicore moments

@@k1xnt Oh, I'd be very interested to hear specific moments. I've listened to Sky Eats Airplane a fair bit (video coming v soon on this channel about them), but Abandon All Ships I don't think I've ever actually listened to at all. There were no intentional direct references on my part, or Michael's as far as I know. Probably just certain tropes that rise to the top when combining metal and electronic sounds. I'll see if Michael has anything else to say on it :0

@@k1xnt Daaaaang, first of all I really appreciate you listening enough to catch things like this! You're obviously a huge fan of SEA and AAS to catch this stuff. The first one you mentioned does sound similar for sure. I wrote that song in LSDJ (music writing on Game Boy if you don't know) and did a techno-ish drum beat because I wanted it to be boppy. The SEA song has a similar drum beat, and thus a similar dancey feel. And both are using a basic square wave instrument, so tonally they're similar too. Awesome catch, I probably wouldn't have thought of it but they're definitely the same vibe. The second one is such a crazy catch, haha. You're right, the patterns are similar. I think in our case it's a result of Michael and me taking turns doing a few syllables, and so they kinda fell in that pattern. I had only heard Abandon All Ships a couple times before today, but I bopped them at lunch after your other comment and damn, I can't wait to listen to more. They're so sick. (I vaguely remembered two songs, I was wrong that I'd never listened at all.) I think in the third example you're talking about the dissonance, or panic chords as they're called in metal. Another cool catch. I'm super impressed you found these. I can say they weren't intentional, just happy little accidents. But hey, if we're doing stuff that these bands did then we're doin alright!
