How to use VFC function (Variable Frequency Conversion) on a multimeter?

First that 5 minute backlight is a HUGE improvement and great to see finally, so big kudos and thanks to Uni-t for that. Good meter overall nice size display and auto ranging , now I hope they fix the teething issues with the sketchy capacitance, lower continuity volume and missing continuity LED. The NCV is as almost always on most meters an afterthought - If they fix the rest its a solid winner-!

Spot on! It's close to being a super multimeter, but they have to fix a few nagging quirks, ie the aforementioned cap issue... Definitely the BEST lcd display I've seen in a long time!

Yep, if they fix just the capacitance, continuity volume and return the cont. light I will HAVE to buy one. I dont even judge a meters NCV anymore most of em just dont even try and make it work as it should. One of those "value added" things that add little value, most times anyway. Uni-T is still one of my favs most times. m

May I ask you for advice? I'm inclined to purchase this model because of NCV. Will it be able to locate hidden wiring in the wall? Not expecting it to be super precise (the goal is to safely drill walls without damaging electric network of unknown location). Thanks!

Hello, I received ut136b+ from China yesterday. On diode test it will beep continously if DUT junction is shorted or BAD (According to the datasheet if the voltage drop on DUT less then 30mV). It is a usefull feature for faster troubleshooting, when we are usually seeking for bad junction. This meter is also hackable. Eg. Enable Range, Minmax, enable LED indicator, en/dis able beep and more. I love this meter. I paid USD 13.5 (with voucher). Thank you.

Great review! Mine 136b (without +) have some problems with capacitance too. So, IMHO, 136b+ looks better with backlight and aa battery's. Hope uni-t fix issues.

Went for this model as a budget multimeter for pretty basic home use. I was choosing between this one, UT890D+ and UT39C+. I really liked UT39C+ but this model had nominal capacitance measurement up to 40mF, lower price and auto range. I wish I'd seen actual tests beforehand. Still it's a decent cheap-o-meter for $19.

No, the UT136B+ does not beep on a good diode..too bad!

Nice review. Have you ever looked at a Fluke 101? It’s about $45 on eBay or Amazon. I don’t know if that’s too much for the cheap multimeter class or not. 👏🏻👍

You know, I think it's worth venturing into at that price...excellent idea!

I think part of why the switch is better in the newer one is its auto ranging and the detents are further apart, the manual ranger they are right next to each other.

@@fourbanger83 I do have some Multimeters sent in for review,and I always make mention of that in the review. However, on this channel it has ZERO input on the outcome. I gave a couple of less than stellar reviews for some Allsun multimeters that were sent to me..I have not heard from Allsun since 😀 This channel is for the end user not the brand, to me they are all test instruments and treated equally. That's why I love this gig..its exciting and you never know what to expect! Thx for watching.

@@rcellduracell3791 actually darren answered all my previous comment on other products as i said i already baught this meter as ahobby i am not a professional i just know that u can hack uni-t multimeter so i asked for help may be this one is tuff to hack i bought also ut116a and i am thinking about ut123d cheap one but good quality for the money

Now, let's get one thing out of the way. You say 'on the old one', as regards the 'manual' range selector, it's 'quirky', but, the manual dial selector, has way more steps on it's dial, than the 'auto range' model, so the 'click' factor is just not gonna be the same, less stepping etc. ;) lol ;), and blue led did light ;)

Noted! I was referring not so much to the amount of "clicks" being utilized. No, it was more about the overall tactile response and feel of the Rotary Select switch. The 136B+ is just more pleasant to move, has a more precise feel and is much better behaved than its manual ranging brethren.
