From what I can tell, the girls here are singing without any pre-recorded vocals. Taking that into account, I would say the stability of their vocals is already pretty impressive.

I've only realized now that Mamamoo's songs are rarely, if ever, covered in these types of competitions! There's a reason for that! Not just ANYONE can cover Mamamoo songs.

They don't do as much choreography compared to other groups so when idol survival shows create missions they choose more dance-centric songs. Same with PD101 they don't cover Big Bang in dance missions/first round cause there isn't that much dancing save for a few songs.

Not to mention part of MMM's strength comes from their ad libs and energy on the stage. It goes beyond just choreo and veers into just...weirdness 🤣

The girls in this team made a smart decision tbh some of them would've struggled in more dance oriented songs for this challenge.

Winz Naive The doors each had boards with the names of the songs and the difficulty level of the singing, dance, and rap with it. So they did know which song they were choosing.

It honestly makes me so happy to see mamamoo being covered by other groups now. They've really come a long way from a small company to well established artists. But for a group to be able to pull off a mamamoo song is amazing in itself

Mamamoo's songs are extremely hard to pull off

These girls are really talented and they're definitely going places, but this is showing me, personally, how amazing MAMAMOO's vocals are. Not everyone can sing with as much technique as MAMAMOO themselves. Pros truly are pros.

most likely because the voices of some of the girls in this team didnt even fit their part when singing the mamamoo song. mamamoo has 4 members, the group had 9 its hard to divide parts when different people have different tones morover have them sing at different octaves. thats why green team said the song was "vocally challenging". and i agree Jackpot was a much better cover than this one

I love that MAMAMOO is so Iconic that other groups and shows do covers of them.

ShinseiX This may not be an excuse. There are other shows like MIXNINE and idol school where the teams or individual contestants showed great vocals competing the original despite very short practice time. Their voices are pretty unstable, and I think they obviously need more practice, not in this particular song, but in their vocal ability in general. In case of backing tracks, you can search MAMAMOO mr removed.

Green team did a great job especially Haena, Minhee and Heejin! Mamamoo's songs are actually pretty hard to sing. Those four ladies are just on a whole different level when it comes to harmonies and live performances.

Nice job ladies!! I was especially impressed with Jiwon's leadership (although all the team members shined, and helped each other shine, so honestly it's a 10/10 team :D)

Makes me appreciate Mamamoo even more with just 4 people singing really stable live. And also the rap has BYUL coulour to it to make it flow nicely with the songs. I'm so proud of my girls getting their songs covered more and more

I just realized how powerful Mamamoo's vocals really are. I mean, I know they are powerful and these girls had a lot less time to prepare than Mamamoo but power isn't something you can practice. This vocal team is really good for pulling off but somehow, Mamamoo's performances are still better. Maybe because of their enthusiasm?

We all know mamamoos songs are difficult, and this song is very hard, but I appreciate how they delivered it. They are good!

For once, I feel so relief! Our Yang Jiwon is finally being reckoned for her talent. To be honest, I was a little worry since she has so little line plus messed up in the rehearsal. She's also fragile and soft so ppl tend to walk over her (like in Black Team)...but congrats bae bae bae. Work harder okie xoxo!!!

This seriously made me realize how talented Mamamoo is because personally I think this was lacking in harmonies but other than that the vocals were good and the rap was solid

I am complete Mamamoo trash but some of you'll are being too harsh on these girls. This was an incredible cover. I've watched all of MMM Immortal Songs performances and even they don't have their harmonies perfect all the time. Most of the time, yes. And on some of the lives I've seen them perform this song, Solar darkens the sound of that high note compared to a more open sound she has on the recording. MMM also have similar voices which is why they blend well together. Compare that to these girls who have a wide range of voice types (that's why some directors move members of a choir around from dark to light so the blend sounds good).

Visual + talent

They did a good job considering it's a Mamamoo song. I'm glad they're a vocal group who didn't butcher the song. I didn't however, feel much charisma and stage presence from all the members. I believe many have to work on their expressions.

I know it’s been a while since this came out, but I really want to praise Haena. Not just for her power vocals and high belts, but I hear her doing the lower part harmony and it adds a lot of depth to their performance. I don’t know why she wasn’t more popular on the show. Same with Hyewon.

Also since everyone is stating that mamamoo performs better, when was the group versing mamamoo? They were versing other groups of people performing different covers of songs. Can't you see the original and a cover as 2 different things, not everything is a competition moomoos. Anyways a bunch of senior artists that are in this show, their groups disbanded recently! Kelly Ho Jiwon is talented too and if people with the best talent are only supposedly needed to get the highest votes then they should have finded main vocals and dancers not idols. The girl is practically so clumsy and sometimes mess up but her charisma that captivates you makes the people vote for her. My thoughts: They did a great job covering the song. Mamamoo are a vocal powerhouse which is hard to try to not only recreate but also add your own creative spin to. While the group did a great job paying homage to the song their vocals are still don't measure up. With enough time and more experience these girls could very well be the new generation of vocal powers. They've all got great and memorable voices. The dances they were doing weren't too complicated or put as much strain on their vocal capabilities as other dances so it highlighted them well. The one flop for me was definitely Moonbyul's rap part. No offense to the girl who did the rap but none will compare to Moonbyul for me when it comes to the rapping. Her voice sits on a lower register than most of these girls with a rasp and huskiness to it that makes it that much more charming. Hopefully wherever they all end up they will be able to be like Mamamoo and their other predecessors that don't just perform but have fun and enjoy every second on the stage together.
