As someone who is not a Romantasy reader at all. I really enjoyed Gild, and then was blown away by how much better the following books in the series are. The first book isn't terrible (I'd say a solid 3 stars!), and the series just gets better.

I hope you get The Heart Principle in paperback and read it, because it was the best one. I feel like I'm not alone in that opinion! She really leveled up. There is a lot of mental health stuff, though, as the MC is learning that she is autistic, so it isn't a fluffy read like the other two.

Just popping in here to say this since I have no other social media: GIRL I READ STILL BEATING! I wanted to read it in one sitting after it captivated me so badly but oh well but work happened. Wished to be able to call in sick and just read it but I couldn`t. I took it with me to work tho (a first timer) just to have it near me lol. It was SO good omfg. I finished it in 2 days which is wild for me! (usually a good book takes me if I am fast a week) I have my own "Riley recommended books which are now my fav books" shelf and I have so many more on my phyical tbr which I just bought because of how you talked about them. Do I know what they are about? No, but i turst you blindly by now. I even ordered a book you were talking about in previous videos (The World Gives Way) with two of my buddy read friends to start soon. I nudged them to read a recommendation by you without them knowing hahaha

However, I tend to keep my shelves up to date as I go hahaha. Also I'm scared of unhauling a gem just because I don't give it the attention it might need lol

I would make an argument for The Heart Principle except you don't really like to cry when reading romance and that book made me violently sob :O But it's the Helen Hoang book I related to the most - I really saw myself in the FMC and it also had themes of being a caregiver for a family member in hospice and how emotionally taxing that could be and I really related to that too. Beautiful 3rd book in that series, but it is quite emotional and powerful, that's for sure!

Twice Shy is really cute. Sarah Hogle writes some of my fave romance. I've enjoyed all of the books by here I've read so far and the romances all have different dynamics. She even managed to weave in natural feeling magic into her Christmas romance (which is a bit like a Halmark movie, but sometimes you just need cheese and wholesome, you know).

Amour Amour is so good!!! One of my favorite romances ever. Don't let the circus element throw you off, it's a sports romance more akin to gymnastics or figure skating than like whimsical circus setting. The characters are both really passionate about their craft and it's a slow burn of mutual trust and admiration leading up to them falling in love

Oh interesting about Foundryside! I just finished it and it was an okay book, fascinating world building but a little slow. It does have a sapphic undertone but it’s so small I personally wouldn’t pick up Foundryside for the romance specifically. I hope you like it but I’m not sure you will, a wild card for sure! Edit: oooooo I’m so excited for you to get to Wolfsong, it was one of my faves of last year!

The Wisteria Society for Lady Scoundrels was one of the first romance books I ever loved? But tbh I mostly love it because it's exactly my sense of humor, the book is really hit and miss with people but I'm one of the ones it's a hit for, lol. I didn't like the second book at all, but thought you'd be interested in the third in the series (which I also really liked) because of the autism rep :)

Tucker's fantasy series Fate & Flame, which you unhauled 😂. It's actually really good. And the other one is Stacia Stark's series Kingdom of Lies.
