Unforgettable Visit to a Hidden Toy Museum in Brighton

Brighton Toy and Model Museum is an absolute hidden gem for toy and model enthusiasts. I found myself in Brighton on a rainy day without much to do and came across this museum as a total fluke - what a lucky find it was!
Brighton Toy and Model Museum has a world class collection of toys and models from the 19th Century through to the 1970s - the golden age of toy making. The collection comprises of items owned by the museum and personal collections and there are over 12,000 items. I was genuinely shocked how amazing the collections inside this unassuming doorway were.
More information about the museum and collections can be found at :
www.brightontoymuseum.co.uk
Whether you are a real vintage toy and model enthusiast or just want to visit a really friendly and interesting museum I really recommend a visit. I am glad I found it and feel lucky to be able to share it with you on my channel.

Absolutely wonderful. I love old museums. After I left the Army in the early 1980s I decided to find my Great Uncle's Wargrave from WWI. I knew where he had been interred in 1917, so I started there. This turned out to be a challenging endeavour. His body had been moved in 1964. From the Hospital where he was originally buried I travelled across France following various leads. This meant staying in towns and villages gathering more details. During this time I discovered lots of little museums. Many Toy museums as well as memorials and tributes to the fallen. The toy museums were an entirely new experience for me and helped fill my time after long journeys. Thank you for this excellent trip down memory lane. I love your work. Cheers

Wow what an adventure. I am currently also on the hunt for a WW1 monument, there's no body as he went down with his ship. Small museums have such heart and are often so unexpected. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Sounds amazing!

@@throughlucyslens I can assure you I am not at all adventurous. It was a time of small towns and villages, interspersed with overnight train rides. My Great Uncle now rests at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille. He was only 17 years old. Best of Luck to you in completing your quest. Warmest Regards.

Such a fab find! You could lose an entire day in there exploring everything. As someone who is too sentimental to part with any of the soft toys I was gifted as a baby the vintage teddy bears would always be the highlight for me. My grandad would’ve loved the Dinky collection and the micro models though

As a Sussex girl (now living in the Midlands) I thought West Hill lift from my home town of Hastings and the Long Man of Wilmington on the model railway was a lovely nod to the County! Plus Harveys is much nicer than Bass.

@@throughlucyslens It's like here in Spain where I live, there used to be doll hospitals but as far as I'm aware they've all closed down now. There is still one in Lisbon, Portugal, which looks very interesting online but I've yet to go there.
