Peter says: I love the Springboks and rugby is one of my favourite sports. Although as a sports journalist I am supposed to remain neutral, I always like to point out that before I became a professional, I was just a big fan! I hold a Masters Degree in International Journalism so at least you know I should be able to ask a good question or two! My dream is to do this KZread Channel permanently. Jacques Olivier was a great player - he ran great lines, I think if it was not for his injuries he could have played in the 1995 world cup. Thank you you Peter for this amazing channel !

Jacques was a very good winger for sure. There are some highlights videos of him from back in the day on KZread and as you say, he ran great lines, had great pace and had it not been for the injuries who knows? We had some really good wings in those days too. Plenty of competition for places: Jacques, Chester, Pieter, James Small!

Forgive my greed , but is it possible to have video footages of the players when you are interviewing then (unless there are copyright issues ). Ok enough of my ingrateness😂, love your videos and your pointer questions I said earlier that it’s good to see the players relaxed , I have since realised it is the interviewer at work Well done

Yes, that would be tremendous but in most cases there are copyright issues. There are a few rights-free options but they are usually very short clips of things like Francois, John and Siya lifting the World Cup or Jannie kicking his fifth drop goal in 1999. I try to put those in whenever appropriate. Thank you for the kind words! Really appreciate it.

A great winger in his era. The try he scored against England B in 92 was brilliant

It really was. Had it not been for injuries he might have played his part at the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Always good seeing you in the comments, my fellow Stemmet!

Monday evening’s have become my ‘Front Row Rugby’ evenings. Thanks Peter, as always great content. Jacques is just a great guy, some of the interviews were quite spicy (don’t get me wrong I am here for it) however his take on “that’s rugby” is refreshing. Needless to say I am really looking forward to next week’s interview. I am going to be slightly contentious but with De Wet on the inside it made Fleck appear to have better skills than he did 🤐I think I may have just upset the internet.

That's such a lovely compliment - thank you! So glad these videos bring some joy to your life. I know you can't wait for De Wet ... and yes, I think he did make Fleckie look good! I'm gonna have to get Robbie on here to defend himself!

@@frontrowrugby great player. His mum worked at the Bulls for long. As a very ambitious ad space sales man I always took a shot at the Blue Bulls and Spoke to his mom often, reminding Mrs Olivier that James Small indeed was my favourite player and I will always be at war with anyone who played against James. She enjoyed the banter, Who knows maybe it was not even his mom. As long as I could get my passion and love for this game of ours across. My loyalty to James too.

@@1414rebel That's a great story! Yeah I'm from the Cape so the Blue Bulls were not popular in my circles as you can imagine! And of course needless to say I was the happiest kid on Earth when James Small signed for Province in 1997!

@@frontrowrugby Province got the pick of the players that season. James scored 17 times in 19 appearances. To bad Alan Solomons balls were not big enough to have captured James' spirit. Bobby Skinstad also never had the grunt as captain of that side to respect James as he should of been respected. I will never have much good to say about Iether Alan Solomons or Bobby Skinstad. For that exact reason.
