I am not surprised Dave is moving on after his stroke and his last performance review. Working in an aggressive “what have you done for us lately” sales environment with little to no stability is not for everyone and certainly not for anyone with health concerns. To me, Dave was the most personable & relatable of all their sales reps. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Somewhat contrived segment with Dave, he brought a different degree of thought and experience among the sales team that will be missed. Real message being, "sell or be gone". TIP: customers will select and stay with providers that deliver client care and display compassion for clients (like CRM, Watch Eric, Wolvyn to name a few that do this relatively well). Be careful to live by or define your brand by "big sales" and "top performers with crazy numbers"; it's not sustainable nor admirable in clients eyes.

Dave is great and very knowledgeable, I bought several watches from him and I referred other friends of mine. Customers who receive great service become loyal and follow the salesperson. How Dave was treated is a direct reflection of their character and how they feel about themselves. They patronized Dave. I don’t care what any CEO has to say who sits at the top in their thrown, they are not the end-user customer who has a real-time perspective. I hope Dave creates his own YT channel.

Takeaway, buy what you like and can afford. I see Alex hesitant to name drop some brands when he said the more unique pieces will come back into trend and appreciate. Many micro/independent brands were not affected 'much' during this adjustment. Another sign for new watch enthusiast to stop chasing your mainstream Rolex. Shoutout to TAGs and IWC in the past year. such a good buy in the grey market.

Match your used Rolex to retail list price, or come in below it. You'll see a flood of sales come in. Time to change the paradigm on Rolex. My money is all in short term CDs now earning between 5% and 9%. Why in the world would I invest in a Rolex or any luxury watch? The message grey market dealers need to get is, yes, buyers are still out there, they have shit load of cash. BUT, they're not about to throw it all away. We demand value for our capital.

Dave is great, he will have learnt a lot at LB, this will be good for him. Staff turnover is also hard for a business and can be disruptive. Be happy because it happened. As I understand it, the Rolex Grey Market and the underhand Rolex ADs that have taken backhand payments for sales to "preference sellers" have probably impacted the whole market. Again, just my opinion many retail prices are too high and are not supported by the Grey Market value, the market will see Retail Dealers starting to discount pieces again.

Watches have a bid and an ask, like securities. There is a spread that those that constantly trade in after a short period need to understand that they will absorb. That spread, maybe not as defined as it is in securities trading, is the margin of the seller. Watches are not short term investments. If you treat them as such, without being a retailer, you will lose far more than you make.

good luck swiss dave, regarding buying/selling, you should buy on a falling market and sell on a rising market. Those whove sold in the 2 years made good money . Hold onto the watches , let the greys take the hit over the next couple of years then buy. As an idea of when the market is at a low, base it around a panda, historically traded at 1.75x ,currently trading 2.25x , so when you see pandas at 1.75x , then buy

Man. If I had the money to buy a bunch of watches, I’d walk in and ask which sales person has the least amount of sales this month, or on average. And then use them to make my purchases. And every time I would repeat and use the least performing salesman. Because it’s not the personality. They see these people you focus on and tend to attract more towards them. I want to help the guys that are stressed about their performance based only on sales because they don’t get the like light like you offer to others.

Over a decade ago I sold cellular phones to businesses, it’s brutal. I was a top earner (awards and shit) but I got burned out. Commission based selling is a terrible industry. Owners have to put up minimal risk (no paycheck) while you have to CONSTANTLY sell shit to pay your bills. It’s easy when the market is hot (like when the iPhone came out). But once everyone has one and the money/interest isn’t there, good luck.

That’s a very blasé and judgemental (dare I say lazy) conclusion to come to. By his own admission the cut throat culture of an environment like LB may not be an ideal fit for someone like Dave, but that doesn’t mean he cannot operate at an elite level and be ‘high performing’ in sales There are many sales environments with longer lead times where his consultative mindset could prove to be very successful. He is also personable and likeable, which is not something i would necessarily say about a person to make such condescending comments.

@@thatbusinesstrainer1414 With the greatest of respect, you are talking nonsense brother. It’s crystal clear Roman doesn’t suffer fools lightly or carry dead weight for long in his business. Nonetheless he stuck by Dave when plenty of other salespeople were culled. (It’s obvious Dave left of his own accord as opposed to being covertly fired as they wouldn’t bring him back in just to record a podcast ) Like myself,Roman obviously sees something in Dave’s business development skillset that you cannot despite your self proclaimed experience Also how you come to the conclusion that he lacks self awareness when he is clearly one of the most contentious, intelligent and self reflective people in the team is beyond me….. but each to their own Don’t get me wrong, I am no particular lover of Dave’s sales approach but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have value and cannot be very successful in the right sales environment

@@byrong1561 I'm sorry you feel the need to put me down...like it's somehow my fault Dave isn't a top-level salesperson. He may have 10 years IN sales, but frequently we see people who have one year of experience...simply repeated 10 times. (no growth). A sales trainer like myself, would have moved his skills up...or moved him out. Either way a better result than just allowing him to fumble thru sales, always moving on to the next gig (where he hopes to be more successful than the last gig)
