Unfair Advantages for Older Creators on YouTube
So you’ve created your KZread channel, picked out a name you like, made yourself a logo, and maybe even uploaded a video. And then, you start feeling a little bit stuck. Based on the comments I’ve read on some of my recent videos, I can see two different trends of where people are getting stuck, and I think they’re kind of related… number 1, how do I come up with new video ideas, and number 2, dealing with imposter syndrome. Both of these roadblocks can be addressed by knowing what your unfair advantage is, especially as someone over the age for 40.

That’s wonderful! Im 54 and am so excited to be doing new creative things on KZread! I’m learning so many skills. ❤
I started my channel when I was 63, now I'm 66. I have about 70 videos planned out, but I don't have enough time to make them often enough because of all the other business that the channel has generated. I'm now officially an Old Age Pensioner but working 80 hours a week doing stuff I love. My superpowers are that I've already made almost all the mistakes that are possible, and I have absolutely no fear of failure.
I am 62 and full of experiences.......These keep popping up, its my sign to start and its awesome.

Agree. I'm 46, and I started my channel five months ago to inform and inspire the underrepresented low to middle-class to achieve true freedom. Get over imposter syndrome. I'm not an expert in any of the topics I discuss, but people can relate and benefit from my decades of failures, learnings, and successes. I believe there are always people who know more than me and people who know less than me. KZread is an excellent platform for learning from each other.

I am WAAAAYYY over 40 and I appreciate it everytime someone posts a video about over 40’s. Well how about almost 60! Yes that’s me. I’m almost 60 🫣 and I just started. In fact I have 40 years experience in my industry. I’ve been posting religiously weekly since Jan 2024 and I just posed video number 27. My age and experience is definitely an advantage and I intend to use it!! I’m only averaging 40 views per video lol but I love it. Older creative people shoot live ,no fancy editing or b roles or camera angles just a cheap phone, does the job work, it's content and it's original 👌 Sharing without any money in mind, Cas your old and wiser
Just gave you a few minutes of my life, actually, 7 minutes. And, a subscription. You're really getting close to that 1,000 subs! My toughest birthday was when I turned 30 years old, figured that was it. As luck would have it, I'm much older than that! So old, 40 looks very, very young. I'm thinking the 40 somethings are the fastest growing influencers that are posting about being an old-er KZreadr. And, I must say they are doing better than me. That's ok. I'm still learning from them and yourself. It's like going to the doctor who is 40 years younger than you are. You have to put your faith in them. So far, after ten months, (actually started in 2011 but, changed up last year) I'm at 718 subs, down from 719. Best advice I can give is, don't quit.
Turning 52 in a few weeks and started my channel about 2 years ago. My unfair advantage is that I was able to live an extraordinary life and I have a lot of experiences to share. Appreciate the video. Well done,

This video was suggested to me in my feed, and I have to say that you hit the nail on the head. I started my channel somewhere around 40, and I was surprised to find that people actually like the videos. And yes, it probably has a little to do with the unfair advantage that I’ve worked over 15 years as an engineer. So I have a certain view on things. Therefore, I would encourage anybody who has something helpful to share, to get out there and share that information. People turn to KZread all the time to learn how to do stuff. Keep up the good work!
Excellent video. I'm a content creator on TikTok who has been holding off doing KZread because I didn't want to mess it up, and I really appreciate your advice. I know what I need to do, thanks.

I’m over 50, I started my channel à few years ago as a hobby sharing some of my interest like vintage analog photography, I don’t care about how often I post, fancy editing, caring to much about the stats, I’m growing slowly but my motivation is sharing, I don’t care about monétisation and my content is partly in English partly in French because, well, hey, why not 😊 do what you like, it’s fun to publish if you don’t look for massive views, just nice interaction with some nice people around the world…
Good channel you find a way keep up the good work don’t give up bro !!!!
awesome video man, you were spot on in everything, for moments felt you were speaking specifically to me, if that makes sense
It’s cool being an older creator too because I can create content for my demographic where my audience metrics really do reflect my own. So seems I can resonate with them where they me be an overlooked market

Cheers for the video, Brandon! I'm a 40 year old travel creator with 10 years of experience in travel, but I only started my channel 6 years into the journey. Better late than never, right?
