Having cemented their place in the ’90s underground techno scene, the group’s definitive breakthrough came in 1996 when their timeless anthem ‘Born Slippy (Nuxx)’ became the soundtrack of a generation after it was featured in the film Trainspotting. The success of that single catapulted the band from the underground into the heart of the mainstream.
The following two decades saw them build on that success while never compromising; selling millions of albums, performing countless sold-out shows, providing scores to productions by Academy Award winning directors Anthony Minghella and Danny Boyle, exhibiting in galleries, and sound-tracking the Opening Ceremony to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The critical and commercial success of the band’s Grammy nominated 2016 album ‘Barbara Barbara, we face a shining future’ saw them headline stages at Coachella, Glastonbury and Summer Sonic.

Today I turned 62 and wondered if my best years were behind me. I don’t believe the boys are quite my age but do prove that doing your best work can happen at any age. Love this.

Yes Karl turns 62 this year which is unbelievable. I saw him in concert last year he only looks 38, he had so much energy. Rick is 59 I think, but both of them are more creative than ever despite the ages

Never too old mate. I saw Underworld at the Sydney Opera House a couple of weeks ago. Karl is 62 and raves like a madman a quarter of his age.

@@jrboudreau It was so good. I went on the Friday, and again on the Monday. Absolutely two of the best gigs I have ever attended and a great mix of ages, from teenagers to people well into their 60s. Fantastic vibe.
Thursdays are the best days these days.

the arp kinda moves like 'Cowgirl' but it's covered in a blanket of blissful and beautiful melodies. i dont know what this saved me from, but i definitely feel saved. Thank you immensely.

One of the great Underworld tracks of all time. Great compositions. Of ALL time.
Beautiful, dreamy, calming. And the sunset on the train ain't half bad either. Great work guys, this is my favorite so far of the series!

Underworld have this rather curious habit of building you up to the highest heights and then bringing you down gently with every album. This last track on the sampler is no exception and wants me wanting more as soon as its finished. Definitely a slow burner and is now one of my favourites so far from the Drift series. Sublime.

Can't get enough of this track. I think I have posted here - below - a couple of times - but I am so utterly moved by the rhythm of this outstanding masterpiece. Every time I listen to it. One of their finest pieces - ever. So thankful for their contribution to music, our lives - my life.

Dreamy, blissful, so many layers, haunting in places, uplifting in others, just sublime, thanks Underworld, The Drift series just getting better and better. I've been listening to Underworld since they started and this is easily one of the best things they've released, apparently done in a week this track.
This is so beautiful, it gives me goose bumps. Since a few months, Thursday is the best day of the week. So happy that you give the fans a gift every week. Keep it up. I look forward to it every week. Thank you guys!

i cant express the effect this track had on my life... i was fucking depressed... workin in the city in a job a hated in a relationship i should have left years earlier in an appartement i was paying far to much for... sat on the district line staring at the black tunnel this track and lyrics float into my headphones... lyrics fucking blow me away, sat crying on the district line. I changed my life that day and havent looked back living on the coast of portugal beautiful loving wife! I owe this song a lot as fucking mad as that sounds.
Fucking hell. It's this stuff that puts clear water between you and everyone else. Art dance rock in between, the spaces between the born slippy usual anthems...but all the beautiful things in between. UK sound at the top of the world. Keep on keeping on. Tohmayto cool

This stuff released of late is their best material since Dubnobasswithmyheadman. I saw them at Reading in 1996 - my god it was an intense performance!
You guys make Thursdays the best day of the week. Every song showcases the style we know and love, but still manages to bring something new to the forefront.
My first attempt to understand the lyrics: "From the gutter to the stars, you look up into the pale light of an underground train… Favorite drift... Perfection... Underneath the skin, we will never meet again i dont know what it is, about me. i can be soft at words i... (....) if they wrap my eyes, i dont know how to undo that. You're really good... in making people feel good not because the way you drift... i think it's in your genes i know i wish i was... you, don't know what's going on , but you're not stupid you, refuse to change on a much more well rounded, ??? the one you are with now... despite for the one you are with now is me in selfish... you don't realize , what a mess you're in... listen to yourself... ..."

I love this more and more, with each listen i relate and ' understand ' more of the feeling and where the protagonist (Karl? Rick?) is at...i love you so much, Underworld... for 23 years now... beautiful!
Love this, as I have loved all of DRIFT. this reminds me a lot of Karl's solo work with the Edgeland album. Underworld, criminally underrated, but for those who know - know they moved dance music beyond its initial simplistic impulses. (not that there's anything wrong with a good old simplistic impulse.........)

✔ There's so much more to Karl and Rick than some people may think, amounting them to a handful of more vastly propagated hits. Investigate their full library, like this track you're exploring. They have copious gorgeous melodies to discover, driven by grit and soul and care, guided by vocal narratives both memorable, relatable, groovy, and enlightening. And they have proven their mettle on many live stages with shows to absorb and hypnotize happy crowds. A great band and amazing team, they are. Brothers.
