Pushing trolleys in Morrisons for £2.00 an hour, college, playing in a terrible band, cheap beer, absolutely packed pubs, street drinking in summer, landlines, no mobiles, no computers, no internet, arranging a time to meet and doing it.

When you could meet somebody new and basically reinvent yourself if you wanted and find out about them from your time together not their online profile, when after you left the school gates behind the school bully couldn't bully you, when your boss couldn't contact you on your day off if you just didn't pick up because 'you were out', when if you went out for the day nobody could bother you, when different regions within the same country had their own unique culture and language, when you would write a letter to stay in touch, when you didn't need a smart phone to use local facilities, when you got the news just once or twice a day in a paper or on the T.V. in the evening. I think the reason a lot of young people today are so highly strung is because they feel like they are being constantly observed they cannot escape.

I can't upvote your comments enough. Globalization really had an impact on us and certainly not for the better. Amazing to read these things that used to be the basics of life for everyone and are today unthinkable. The world could be stuck in the 80's/90's I would have no complaints and I think the life experience of people would feel much more real to them than it does today.

The feeling of this song is so hard to describe in English. There’s a beautiful concept in Portuguese which describes this feeling perfectly: Saudade (pronounced sau-dadje) Nostalgia for times gone by with the hope of them returning but knowing they never will (that’s my best attempt at translating the concept) Let me know your thoughts

What a time to be alive. I was born in '95, so I missed the height of all these times, I still loved my childhood tho cause I was "around" this. With an older brother and father who loved this genre of music, I listened to a lot of it on old burned CDs, some of which I still own. But being a teenager & young adult around these times must've been great.

Loved this in 95ish and now 2022 and i am 50+. Pumped to the max working at home, headphones......

LOL I thought my first pill wasn't working, so I downed a black microdot(acid), Wow what a trip that was, it brought me out of myself and I never looked back. Up until then I thought drugs were for serious self improvement only, That Acid/MDMA trip was the most fun I had ever had in one night and was the first of many. If only I had a time machine sigh!

I dunno..... I think Dropping the synth out and just leaving the pounding, delayed, drums adds a ton of tension to the track leading up to the first breakdown.....sounds a bit cluttered with the synth still playing. Still a top tune though!!!!

He waited for the previous track that is playing to stop then Drop Born Slippy as his intro. The Club literally became in a state of slow motion. It's epping surreal. Still cherishing that moment till this day.

yes i got goose all to my legs jesus... but this remembers me of my heroin past being high and watching trainspotting over and over with my ex gf being high going outside in the summer everything felt so great till the dope wore off and we had to take another hit... i always try to think of the good thinks of my past not the bad days. it helps if you block the bad days out and just remember the fun days

LOVE THIS TRACK!!!! this takes me back to the mid nineties when life was so much simpler and new and fresh..the electronic music out today (in my opinion) won't match classics like this iconic song....

When this came out I was in the mandatory army service in my country. Summer was like hell in army outfit running in more than 32 degrees heat wave with a rifle for more than one hour. I remember this song. Fucking world. Some peoples nostalgia is other people misery. Sleep felt like one second .

Great memories with this track. Renton walking off with the ca$h. Best remix I've ever heard as the constant melody is brilliant. The constant thud of the drum is making me dance my ass off into a mad sweat. 🤙 I don't listen to the original anymore as I feel this is so much better.
