Prediction: Since it's a vacuum there is no air in there, or very little air, so there will be very little if any bubbles from the chamber. I think the water pressure since it's so much higher than air pressure will push the glass inwards more and there will be very little glass escaping the implosion. On the high speed camera you might even see small bubbles of water vapor for a fraction of a second because of the fast and extreme changes in pressure. Definitely cant wait to see how Wrong I am, Great Video you Two

I got here searching youtube for underwater vacuum collapse. Do a thought experiment with the vacuum chamber deep in the ocean and the chamber walls shattering to bits but with the compressibility/elasticity of water at zero and water not boiling in a vacuum. I think the water would fall in from the sides making the vacuum bubble wider and at the same time rain down from the top scattering the vacuum bubble into smaller vacuum bubbles that will stabilize maybe the size of water drops that will float to the surface slowly.

yeah, so the pressure differential here is around 30 psi. (approx -14.7 in the vessel, +14.7 around it) imagine 6000 psi. say that bottle has an external area of 100 square inches, there would be 3000 pounds of force in total on it in this case. if it was roughly 12 000 ft down and 6000 psi on it there would be 6 MILLION pounds of force on this tiny little bottle. imagine how much force was on that submercible that was at least 100 times larger than the bottle.

You could try mounting a pneumatic cylinder in the bottom of the aquarium, then use it to break the vacuum chamber. Then you don't have any external issues such as knocking the vacuum chamber sideways or introducing air like you did with the shovel. You should be able to achieve a much better video of the implosion that way. For extra effect, you could also use a chamber made of tinted glass so that the implosion is even more visible against the water.

I'm a glazier, the best way and safest way to break glass is with a centerpunch. Not sure if it makes sense but it translates to "keskipiste". If you have to seal glass or plexiglass to plastic I would use polyurethane caulk Great video!

This is what the news outlets should be showing to convey what happened to the OceanGate Titan.

Laari if you use a clean glass aquarium and use vegetable oil instead of water the vacuum chamber will go completely invisible, but just leave enough of the dome out of the oil to strike, and then if you hit it with an automatic centre punch or maybe even a high powered air rifle from above, the breaking vacuum chamber will instantly become visible again and should provide a fantastic slow mo footage.

What's the brand of shovel you got there? It looks like it can scoop the heavy stuff.
