Underwater exploration of the MV Salem Express shipwreck. Salem Express was a passenger ship that sank near Port Safaga at a depth of 32 meters. It is notable due to the heavy loss of life which occurred when she sank shortly after striking a reef on Saturday December 14, 1991.

    Yes, the depth is around 30 meters, although i would not reccomed penetrating the wreck unless you are properly trained and equipped.

    It was a tremendous catastrophe, most of the passengers abord this ship died during the sinking and all of their belongings sank along with the ship. Only bodies were recovered after the disaster, all of the "garbage" is still there being plundered by ignorant divers. Quote from wikipedia: "Many of the deceased had been trapped within the ship as it sank. Although Islamic tradition prefers to avoid burial at sea where possible, it is permissible when there is no other option, and entryways into the ship were welded shut to prevent the bodies from being disturbed in an attempt to protect the site as a tomb."
