It is interesting how Clover goes from "Okay, these monsters are murders, but if they don't fight me or they surrender, then I won't kill them, that's not right" to them getting so fed up with everyone, becoming more and more angry throughout the Geno run.

it broke my heart, to be honest. This whole scene hurt so much

I don’t get why they don’t let Starlo kills us. If bro was willing to shoot us just because he was upset with us for breaking up his posse, he would definitely shoot us point blank in genocide route. I like Starlo and Ceroba as characters but I know they’re definitely morally questionable (in pacifist and neutral) and are pretty willing to use violence with the full intent to kill. Making Starlo use fake pellets just make him feel weirdly cruel to Ceroba, like he doesn't even care that she'll witness his death. Which doesn't seem right when in the Alternate Pacifist end, he defend her over Clover. He cares a lot about her

Starlo doesn't really has a reason to shoot you on Geno, you didn't kill his friends. The main reason he was using violence it's because he was hopeless because all his friends just left, and he was seeking some sort of recognition. So Starlo it's still just someone who is playing around as sheriff in the town.

@@skell6134 Actually you can't, even when i pressed Z it didn't shoot, but because of me subsequently trying again i ended up hitting the right input the exact frame the prompt did appear, shooting starlo before anyone else would I do still get bragging rights for being the fastest gun in the wild east, can't take that away from me

It sucks that Star is the only one of the main cast that doesn't get his time to shine in Genocide. Even if it was just a short one shot boss battle, it would have been co much cooler if it was done like an actual boss fight. Really hoped that he could've had an Undyne moment protecting his posse

See, the thing is that's fitting for him. He's not this unbeatable, justice incarnate cowboy from the westerns. He's just a young man, a farmer's son. Ceroba is a boss monster; Martlet, a royal guard. HIm? He's a larper who just wants to bring joy, much like El Bailador.

Starlo after you have killed everone up to that point: "I can't do it." Starlo when his team hates you because he messed up: "JUST DIE!!!"

I wish the devs had it so you die if you don’t shoot fast enough, they did Starlo so dirty by making him not kill Clover ): Or make it start Starlo’s boss battle, which would of been cooler

i loved it when starlo was completely willing to shoot a little kid with an actual gun for something they almost barely caused but shoots a genocidal murderer with fake bullets

"Thanks for letting me feel cool for a shotlet moment." That's deppresing, I genuinely could never do genocide. Not anymore.

I feel like this is such a missed opportunity for a new Starlo fight. He was undoubtedbly my favorite character in the pacifist run, his theme rocks, his missions were memorable, his team dynamic was fantastic, and his jokes were funny, that pose Clover made in the end made my entire day. But it always wonder, an outlaw is supposed to be for the sake of justice, so when I tried the genocide run, I was extremely disappointed to see Starlo get one shot and killed. It could have been a great fight against 2 holders of justice, the 2 twisted sights of justice. I was expecting Starlo to pull something like what Undyne did and revive purely for his desire to bring justice or something, pulling off everything he had to bring true justice to our genocide, so I was saddened to fight Cerobi instead. The other team members were just completely gone too, would it not be awesome if the 4 fought Clover and were actually putting up a fight? The battle in the pacifist route made me seek more fights with the team yet for the genocide?? Imagine the moments of guilt that can be placed when one of the 4 members die or something of that sort. Imagine the sight of seeing Starlo go all out, seething from rage, shooting every shot accurately without hesitation. Starlo deserved so much better for the genocide route. I will forever think of what it would look like with Starlo going all out. (Though I don't blame the devs, the game is still a masterpiece and I love it dearly)

@@johay899 I love the idea of each member giving you 1 level, it shows the effect of each death really well. It also prepared you for a battle for Ceroba in terms of levels. Starlo was def wasted in the genocide run

I actually shot starlo the second "DRAW" appeared on screen but then closed the game and waited for starlo to shoot me lmao

Fun Fact: If You Don't Collect The Gun, The Game Would Think You Did Collect The Gun, So Basically You Can Still Do Genocide Without The Real Gun And Still Be With Just A Toy Gun

It really is not that difficult, it just requires more practice, I recommend using the coffee beans or glass ammo to practice, avoid using the ice pellets, flint and nails, since the additional attack indicators make it harder to learn. @@thefirstone1565

Ok this is sad and all but it's honestly dumb that he doesn't even really do anything. They done my man dirty in this route. Doesn't help that one of the most most unfair bosses in the run comes right after this.

Nah that fight is easy, its just memorizing patterns, what's unfair is the final boss of this route, its basically brute forcing the fight, shoot and use your healing items every turn because there's bullets in 90% of the box, and apparently there's a 2nd phase I didn't get to

@@mariotheundying i agree with you on the final boss sucking, but yeah no i think geno ceroba is way too rapid fire and it's so hard to dodge the little flowers that scatter everywhere cuz it's such a tight window, not to mention the BIGASS RED LASERS which not only barely have a warning and move way too fast and have too much range, but every time you get hit by one, you lose max hp

@@DeltaBlazin The good thing is that the red lasers as well as the orange and blue attacks always have the same pattern, once you get that memorized, it gets significantly easier. The moving flower/petals attack is definitely the hardest for me, took me a while to realize it mimics your movement inputs, holding down X and rapidly tapping different directions to make Ceroba's petals fly away from me really helped

@@zena2239 Yeah but the flowers have such tiny-ass windows to dodge and they move so fast. And even then I still don't have fun fighting her though, the fight lasts way too long because you're only doing like 50-60 damage, you know how much damage frisk did at LV 10 alone? Like 15 thousand. And this fight only gets HARDER with even faster attacks once you get her down half way, like gimme a fuckin break. Undyne the Undying didn't have to do cheap shit like lowering max hp or super fast unpredictable lasers or flooding the battle box with bullets, and she still has a great and very challenging fight. I don't feel like giving up when I lose to her, I feel determined to keep trying and fighting her. Sans breaks all the goddamn rules and I still have fun fighting him too, because the ATTACKS themselves don't feel unfair.

Something I just realized is that you can skip certain mini bosses like Decibat and Bailador if you exhaust the kill count before meeting them, this is actually bad as it puts you behind in LV and results in dealing less damage. If you maximize your XP and LV gains, you can easily deal 70 damage to Ceroba every turn. @@DeltaBlazin

Now i have a question. What happens if you kill Starlo in a pacifist run? He is important for the story to continue, I wonder what will happen Maybe you can't kill him in other routes

Nah if ya want to learn some of the story instead of challanging yourself, just hack the game, search for %AppData% and choose local folder and find the Undertale Yellow folder and then open the save file in your notebook and try finding "MaxHP" and "HP" and change the numbers to some really crazy ones and you will basically have Infinite HP, you can also find the damage of your "Primary" and "Secoundary" (I Hope that's how you write it) weapon and change the numbers too and with that get Infinite amout of damage. This way you can beat it easily in a sec. And after you beat the Boss you can always change the numbers back to whatever these were before.

You can do something similar, when She talks to you in genocide, you act saying sorry till it becomes yellow, then you attack her and She Will respond immediatly. But this doesn't matter, after all She Will survive your first battle.

i was planning to make it a neutral route when i got to starlo and i actually screamed when it just shot him, i committed to the genocide after that.

I don't get why people are calling this dumb. To me it speaks a lot about Starlo as a character. As long as he has his anchors to morality, like Ceroba, he just can't kill. It's sad and heartwarming at the same time.

With the Cebora thing, remember, she's HIS BEST FRIEND FROM CHILDHOOD, (yes, she did horrible things too, just like Starlo) So it's understandable and even logical that he would be upset with Clover for killing her (even he himself had said he was doing everything he could to cheer her up).

Considering starlo is one to cover up his mistakes (such as the j is silent), I wouldn’t be surprised if he accidentally pulled out the BB gun instead of his actual gun and covered it up as him not being able to bring himself to kill you

I just expected Clover to die

I only hate this because I hate Ceroba. I wish Starlo used something besides pellets, we wouldn't have to fight her, and he would be a real sherrif, it's perfect.

Honestly I think it'd have been neater if getting shot by him would just instantly game-over you. It would've been a fine place to put it, considering that there's a save point right beforehand.

I found this out because I wanted afair fight with starlo, but it didn't happen. It's a shame starlo is the only boss who dies in one hit

This is just a big deception, it could have been a cool detail or something, but he just gave up like that. Even knowing his whole story, his need to become a show for the monsters to have something to smile, it doesn't make sense for me why he just didn't shoot a real bullet, in the pacifist run he lost everything and wants to fix everything by killing us, yet in this route he just doesn't even try saving others or put up a show, he just thanks us for letting him be cool

Nah, They made my boy Starlo dirty is this route, it's disappoint me a bit, because I was really think that all the Yellow main cast characters would have some respect in Genocide. Principally because Clover is not Stronger as Frisk.

Because, battle-wise, he's basically this game's Mettaton. He doesn't become an Undyne until you lock in Pacifist.

I gotta agree with most of the other commenters here: this feels like a real fluke on his character, which you know, is kinda on brand for Undertale which kinda makes it funny. Now don't get me wrong here, obviously the character writing and development in both Undertale and UT Yellow is phenomenal, and flukes are bound to happen here or there, it's natural, not intending to bash either Toby Fox or the writers for UT Yellow. My actual point though: As much as I love Ceroba and her wonderfully creative bossfight where she lowers our max HP, which i don't think I've even seen explored in other fangames (my memory could just be faulty though), we should've been able to have an alternate Starlo No Mercy fight, where he fires at us and initiates the battle or something along those lines. At the very least he should've been able to kill us. I understand that one of the major developments for Starlo is the fact that he's not really a proper sheriff, just a farm boy trying to live out the fantasy of being one despite the lack of need for a sheriff (if you're not counting humans falling, which, to be fair, is why there's a royal guard, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). However! His bossfight in Pacifist and Neutral more than demonstrate the fact that he has actual skills, with how quickly and effectively he lassos us, the fact that time has to slow down for us to dodge his shots because he is FAST, and just the torrent of everything that he hits us with. He may not be a real sheriff, but he definetly has the skills to be one, which is such a neat detail I feel gets overshadowed by the fact that he's technically not a real sheriff. I mean, heck, if he wasn't using pellets he would've shot us clean though the skull, as is observed by how the pellet bounces off Clover's head. This feels like Papyrus all over again... Not to mention, as many people have pointed out already, he IS capable of killing. He will kill us in Pacifist and Neutral routes for so little as respect and recognition (and I recken probably to uplift the Underground too since that's one of his motivations but off topic), yet he hesitates in No Mercy? When he is clearly devoted to protecting the monsters of the underground, sheriff or not? It just feels so lame. Almost like you should just shoot him early becuase narritively it's more appealing. And speaking of narritive, again, I LOVE all of the bossfights in No Mercy and how they play out, the writers absolutely hit the nail on the head with creativity and emotion, but all I'm saying is that in the game that revolves around the Justice soul, the rootin', tootin', gun-slinging-and-shooting Justice soul, the game where the ONLY character to ever really mention Justice (save for Martlet in Geno) is Starlo, in BOTH ROUTES, I'm just saying that thematically, having a Geno bossfight with him would've been so perfect. A perfect parallel to Clover as in this route, they have fallen astray, just as Starlo has, with a misguided sense of Justice and what's right, putting up a shoot-your-problems-away facade to deal with their problems, it's great. That's just my thought on it though. Again, the game is already mind-blowingly phenomenal as is, like, easily the best fangame out there and practially a REPLICA of Undertale in terms of quality in every area, and the character writing is spectacular in every other occasion, you can't fault anybody for one missed opportunity. We critique not to bash, but to learn and build off of the crumbs others leave, so don't nobody go and read this with the wrong idea. Frankly, I'd love to see if someone would make a fan Starlo bossfight of UT Yellow (god the inception); there's a lot of potential to run with after all!

I feel like having a boss fight with Starlo would've have been amazing. Despite how it doesn't make sense for Starlo to hesitate to kill you in the genocide run I still like how he doesn't kill you it makes sense for his character in some way more than his pacifist/neutral fight in my opinion. I tried to make sense with why he is caple of killing you in his pacifist/neutral fight rather than his genocide encounter saying "maybe because in the pacifist/neutral fight he lost all of his friends and is desperate to get them back and he isn't thinking at all but in his genocide encounter he still has his friends and has had time to think about everything". But really I don't think that makes any sense.

Starlo deserved to be the final boss of Genocide instead of Martlet, don't get me wrong, Marlet's final encounter makes sense to me but......like you said, Starlo would fit more given he's a reflection of Clover's character. Heck, we could even have an arc of him fully embracing his sheriff persona, using Clover's rampage as the main reason why The Underground needs a sheriff in the first place

@@snappednecc4565 Exactly, if anyone I'd see hesitating on killing us, that would be Martlet. Sure, different from Neutral, not all lives were lost. But maybe a good explanation for it is that she doesn't wanna stoop down to human's level or something, or maybe they could do something similar to Disbelief Papyrus

The only difference between the dual in the genocide route and the other routes is that starlo and clover have safety goggles on in the other routes, which means that if starlo had put on safety goggles in the geno route, he would have survived

This entire game had... A lot of flaws. Lack of character interaction, overly complex secrets, and unexplored situations and environments. Its not a bad game by any means but... This is really a kinda dumb situation...

Undertale yellow is pretty damn good for a fan game but damn it has plot holes also am I the only one who feels the genocide run is the best ending?

if you consider that in the genocide run, frisk and every other human after frisk will be stuck down in the underground then it doesn't seem like a good ending

what happens if you just dont pick up the wild revolver do you attack Starlo with the toy gun?

Yeah nothing changes besides the weapon damage

I kinda wish starlo could kill you, like youd respawn back to the save and then youd have to "dual" until you cheat or have a really good draw
