Axis’s role in the Genocide/Vengeance route to me is legitimately PERFECTLY DONE. Hands down the best part of the route. Not only is it a clever role reversal that gives Clover a menacing, even terrifying outlook. (Seriously, Genocide Frisk looks like a piss baby in presentation compared to how relentlessly murderous and trigger happy Clover is.) But it also expands on Axis’s character in ways impossible for the pacifist to do. As well as truly highlight Clover’s twisted perspective of Justice. For Axis, his entire character changed the moment he was shot. Both because he realized the danger he was in, and because the bullet somehow managed to grant him access to his previous memories. Where he committed his own share of crimes. This simple alteration changed him ENTIRELY. From a heartless robot hunting down intruders to a scared person desperately running away, trying to warn others of a dangerous threat. But at the end, Axis accepts his fate, and via his own volition, despite it being dangerous to his well being, admits his crimes, trying to explain it from his perspective. Giving a fairly straightforward reasoning for his actions. A far cry from the pacifist route where he refuses to listen at ALL. Further showcasing just how much just a simple danger and knock on the head can change someone. For Clover, the moment Axis admits his crimes, is the moment their cruel sense of Justice and karma is finally shown. They do not care about context, they do not care about perspectives, they only care about what they think is right. And harshly punishing those who either think otherwise, or go against their ‘rules.’ This way of thinking is hinted and criticized at a couple times before the Steamworks, but it all climaxes by the time you fight Axis. Cause Axis is the shining example of a character that SHOULD conflict with Clovers judgement. Should Axis really be punished with death if they truly had no choice? If what happened was merely an unfortunate accident? Clover doesn’t give a crap. They only hear ‘killed human’ and nothing else. A stark contrast to Pacifist Clover, who listened and learned from everyone’s view, and using it to form a new goal of what he saw as a just action. Idk why this turned into an essay, nor do I know why I decided to post it here… but uhhh. Love the song!

Mfer Clover fought WEAKER MONSTERS than the ones Frisk dealt with and his hate is directed towards Monsterkind, while Frisk just wants to wipe *everything* Ain't no way Frisk is less terrifying than Clover, he has full power over the save files from the moment he fell to the underground and singlehandely wiped more than a hundred monsters that Clover couldn't even run away from far enough until Flowey intervened

@@wdg2384 I know Frisk is technically scarier in a larger scale, but I’m more so mentioning it from a presentation type of view. Clover, particularly in Axis’s section of the game, is portrayed in a much more terrifying light then Frisk was in genocide. Yellow does a better job at handling the atmosphere of a crazed murderer chasing after anyone and any thing left standing then actual Undertale in my opinion. The closest Frisk gets to that for me is with Monster Kid, which is definitely horrifying, but it’s short lived. In short, I’m aware that Frisk is technically much scarier and dangerous, but Yellow, and by extension Clover does a better job at portraying the sort of genocidal maniac experience.

I mean to be clear... is it really that Clover was dealing with weaker monsters in UT:Y than his change of directions by Flowey in 'canon direction'?@@wdg2384 I wonder if one of the primary reasons Clover didn't survive in the original path is because they didn't fit his whole deal: he is a *cowboy, with a gun*. In UT: Y, he finds new types of ammo, even gets an actual gun in the end. In 'canon direction', he wouldn't have the item pickups. He would be outgunned and unable to deal with the monsters - and lets be honest, if Clover went through the canon path through Toriel and didn't just kill her off, and she outright told Clover before he left what happened to the other humans? He doesn't only have a cause now: *He has a name, and all those that obey his will*, right from the get-go. Told that ALL OTHER MONSTERS outside the Ruins are the enemy. If he also got access to guns and weapons like what he needs to start scaling, his warpath would echo Frisk's Genocide Run. Albeit, I fully believe Clover would fail Undertale Pacifist. I think his personality is too much a gunslinger for him to relate properly with most people in the path, and no bloody way would he ever spare someone with Undyne's total vitriol against humanity. He also doesn't flirt enough. :P

Notably, the EXP only goes up by 200, but the LOVE jumps to 19. I think that's enough of a clue that their ability to hurt rose sharply merely because of Axis admitting to killing that human.

Honestly my favourite part of this route, it shows how much Clover has changed in just seconds and so suddenly, the first time I saw them shooting Axis without any fear near the beggining I was totally shocked, afraid of what I was seeing in the sense that I felt horrible for making this route, and the fight at the end, just perfect, Axis trying to explain what happened but Clover doesn't want to listen, and I don't know if I'm the only one but when I heard the sound of the LV increasing it was like I felt Clover's anger, and everything ending with one of the most brutal deaths with no gore I saw in a videogame, reminds me of "that" moment in Deltatraveler Section 2. Anyway, nice cover, I like to change between the original one and this version when I want to listen this song :D
