If you look at it in the right way sans only fights you in the genocide route because he isnt mad about his brother, he's trying to save everyone's happy ending, cause once you finish you don't get a true happy ending.

what you said is partly true and partly false sans fights you at the end of a genocide route for these reasons , he knows you want to kill everyone and everything then erase it as he quotes in the game, he does want vengeance for his brother, he fights for everyone you killed before for his friends like what I am stronger music video says ( everything they cared about is why I'm here ) sans personally knows fighting you is pointless he isnt doing it because he HAS to becuase he WANTS TOO

mysman 1 i can see how it'd seem like that, but sans is actually...more aware than we think. he knows there's a player, and he knows we're the ones resetting and killing. he even says that when he tries to talk to frisk/chara and convince them to spare him.

mysman 1 you're right up until the part about him knowing a child in purple or green, he has no idea about any of that. he knows about resets - otherwise, how would be be able to count how many times you've fought him?? he literally says "oh that's the face of someone who's died 5/6/7 times" every time you go back to see him. he's fully aware of the resets, and can even sense when they happen! :0 he knows about us, about the player, and he knows that we're the ones controlling frisk, which is why he calls out to them and asks if they were once his friend. he doesn't even know chara EXISTS, and y'know they're not responsible for the genocide run, right?

he bases your deaths entirely based on your face, hes aware of the timelines based on what he says during his fight, but he gives nothing about him knowing of the player, honestly without a clear answer from toby theres no indication to if he knows of the player or not and its all just speculation. That said you make a very respectable argument!
