Mike, is your Channel new, or did I just find it? Your presentations with camera and computer are extremely professional, and wayyyyy better than most woodturning channels. I've been using your Walnut Oil, on many projects, but now, I will use it more. I've had a tendency to wax my turnings (bowls, goblets, boxes). I will refrain using waxes in the future for these turnings. I recently bought your bowl gouge design from Carter and Sons, "Mahoney Parabolic Wood Beater"!. My new wood-turner mentor here in Pacific Grove, CA cannot stop talking about you and your talent. Glad I've found your channel on KZread University.

Good information, There will always be those who sand a utility item to 600, apply multiple coats of polyurethane, buff up to white diamond, ren wax, etc.

I appreciate how this was thought out and presented.

I always thought that tung oil was in the same category as walnut oil - penetrating, polymerizing, good protection. Can you briefly tell me the difference between the two? Thanks very much! It is very generous of you to share your years and years of experience on KZread!

Tung will easily build to a shine that can be used as a moisture barrier. Walnut oil dries slower and is harder to build to a film. Many think 100% pure Tung oil is a myth. They may be correct but it probably is blended with distillits. Still a decent finish

Mike, you didn’t mention friction polish. I have used this quite a bit on things like bottle stoppers and pepper mills. Is that something that you wouldn’t do?

Thanks I use walnut and beeswax together like R Raffan applies. He uses linseed oil. Personally I like the smell of walnut oil over linseed oil better

Thanks for another terrific video. I stick with using your walnut oil for the interior of bowls. I don’t use shellac for bowls, but I recently took a woodworking course for building Krevnov-style cabinets and they showed me how to make natural shellac using flakes and grain alcohol. So, I’m thinking that not all shellac has high toxicity. What do you think?

Great video. Have been wondering what causes those pesky water spots. I've been using BLO and beeswax on top of that... So.. leaving out the wax will eliminate the problem? Small wooden boxes that get handled alot?

I bought some of yourt own walnut oil when |I visited USA & I like it. I often use food safe finish for my turned items, but wondered about allergic reactions, so reverted to mineral oil. Any ideas?
