Not much scarier than your profile picture!

I did a speech class on the Aum Shinrikyo cult years ago as I found their activities both fascinating and chilling. I've lived in the Tokyo area for the past seven years and always felt safe riding the subways. I couldn't imagine the pain and fear of the sarin gas attacks on that terrible day.

Thank you Ladies for doing your videos and the tough subjects, they include. Keep up the great reporting and inform the world of these horrors hidden in our world.

I must say this was very interesting. I’ve never heard of this group before. Thank you for bringing it to attention. I’m going to dig further into it.

I hope they do an episode on that cult out in Oklahoma that poisoned salad bars with salmonella. I've never heard much info about them and I'd like to learn about them

Love this video! You two delved into incredible detail of the founder and the associated cult. I recommend reading Haruki Murakami’s book “Underground”, which demonstrates a variety of perspectives from ordinary folk to poignant people of power related to the cult. Though it can get very visceral, just reading this would help many understand how severe the gas attack was back in the day.

I suggested this cult when it was asked if there were other cults that should be covered. I still find it interesting that they're a vague reference in one of the Earthbound games as enemies (Happy Happyists).

This is a late comment, but since Joyce mentioned anime at the start of the video, this episode could have briefly discussed the anime miniseries that was produced by the those who worshiped Asahara. One particular screenshot from said anime became an internet meme.

This is so awful, I worry that Asahara might have also used the socital idea that you need to conform with what is normal in his social circle. Though, based on what happens in other cults, it seems the "norms" around cult leaders is something most of them try to push on their followers. Yikes. Also, for the history buffs in here... It was due to the Aum Shinrikyo attack on the Tokyo Subway, a major transportation infratstructure, that multiple world governments had to consider that nonstate actors could get their hands on WMDs and harm a great number of people and critical infratstructures!

Merle and Joyce will have to speak for themselves on this issue (if they wish), but I understand your intended point. Issues of personal expression, respect for the issues being covered, and how to tastefully address a person's attractiveness are not simple in this day and age, and they are often wildly at odds with each other. Thus changes are clearly being made as the show evolves.

Here, it may be: if you read the other comments, the hostesses have been accused by some viewers (not me, but it IS a topic) of overdoing it in previous epsiodes. So as I've said eslewhere, the show's approach is evolving.

It’s been falling forever, Ryan and Shane just helped it slow it’s descent for a while but now it’s back in free fall lmao

These hostesses are too flippant when they talk about mature subjects. Their humor is tone deaf and their discussions come off as very disrespectful to the victims and survivors of cults.

This series is sooo...bad. buzzfeed unsolved is FINISHED...I don't want to sound offensive, but for some reason when guys run these shows, they are much more scary. It might have to do something with associating less fear with women, as compared to men

These try to be funny and it’s just not hitting but y’all do amazing at informing so I would say keep at it work on those punchlines tho

Unsolved should go back to Shane and Ryan or go extinct, these new hosts are affirming hires and it downgrades what was great viewing
