❓Understanding the Covenant - finding meaning in God, Torah & mitzvot
This is the third and final episode in Rabbi Esther’s ‘Jewish identity, belonging & covenant’ series. Please see the playlist for the introductory episode that frames the conversation and the first episode that addresses identity and the second episode that addresses belonging.
(This video can be listened to as a podcast).
In this final episode, we take a deep dive into the idea of ‘covenant’. What does covenant mean in Judaism? Are there covenants for non-Jews too? How does one enrich one’s understanding of the covenant between God and the Jewish people? What is the meaning and purpose of the mitzvot (commandments)? What if you don’t believe in God - does the idea of covenant still apply? How can you make the covenant truly your own?

You are so welcome! My pleasure!
Hm, strong statement about Jews talking about God. I guess depends on your experience but I hear about God non stop!

That’s because you live in the Orthodox community 😅 My channel is oriented towards the non-Orthodox Jewish experience 😘

@@mindyschaperalthough I would love to hear from you whether you find that the way I talk about God (as a liberal religious Jew) is congruent with how some Orthodox Jews talk about God. Where do you think the similarities and differences are?
