Understanding Granular Synthesis - Introduction & History

Музыка

Watch the full 'Understanding Granular Synthesis' with King Unique course here: www.sonicacademy.com/courses/...
So you've heard of Granular Synthesis and you may well have used Granular Synthesis in your tracks, but do you know what's actually going on when you hear that distinctive sci-fi or ambient sound it can produce?
Well look no further, as synth royalty King Unique is back to take an in-depth look at where it all started; what's happening to the audio and the terminology used, so you can master this epic form of synthesis to get sounds unavailable elsewhere to use in your tracks.
Once you've got to grips with Granular, you can create some amazing effects or merge it with your more recognised subtractive synth sounds to create unique patches that will raise your sound design bar up a notch.
Check it out!

I didn't like the first humourous part, it was irrelevant and distracting. I loved the rest - the serious part. It was the best description of the so called granular synthesis. Well done! Thank you!

Very enjoyable, thank you, this must have taken a lot of time to put together. My mind is boggling at how this has so few views given the huge number of subs you have!

This was awesome, and narrated so well.. it just kept building and hinting along the way that there was another video.... if there this one coming - peace :) if not... please don't let us hanging and actually showcase some sick granular with a baseline and drum and not let it stride into every electronic musicians first ambient piece......

are there any examples of granular synthesis being used for music in games to make the music more responsive to gameplay?

9:43 Yeah, good luck building a Collidoscope, because “you haven’t got a prayer”! 🤪 But for $9.99 you can (like me) get Tardigrain, which also works on iPhone. You’ll just have to spend weeks and months (like me) monkeying around with all its parameters and capabilities. And don’t just use Humbletone’s included samples. Record your own: quacking ducks, machinery noises, belching the alphabet 😂…and go APE “monkeying around”! Good luck with that, too! 😄😄

Not funny. You’re annoying. Good explanation though.
