👉 The common causes of metabolic acidosis is discussed
👉 The difference between a non-gap and a high-gap metabolic acidosis
👉 Non-gap acidosis can be caused by two things:
1.) a decrease in bicarbonate preservation of the kidney typically caused by renal failure or
2.) an increase in chloride ions
👉 High gap acidosis can be caused by:
1.) increase in endogenous acids such as lactic acids, ketoacids, uric acids, or phosphoric acids
2) exogenous acids due to toxins or overdose
