Your best bet with a GIA graded diamond is to get one that has been inscribed by GIA with the diamond report number. Not all diamonds are inscribed, the diamond dealer needs to request this service when getting a certificate, the cost is minimal. "Older" GIA certified stones can be sent back to GIA for inscrpition. The cert. number is laser etched onto the girdle (the edge) 0f the stone and only seen under 10x magnification. This is a good thing because if you ever get your ring repaired and think the stone has been changed you can verify it by looping the girdle of the stone.

You'll get quality but maybe not at a fair price, probably more expensive but it will be what you will want, just be more of a price, the difference is other jewelers will sell you less quality for the same price he would sell the real quality pieces for

Got an 18k White gold VVS princess cut invisible setting 10/10 , I'm about to spend a couple k k to upgrade from VS to VVS before they start creation.. is it worth it, should I expect a certificate from all reputable dealers/artists/jewelers? I have a loose 2.53ct “F” vvs1 GIA certified. I have no idea the value. What could a loose diamond of that grade go for?

Mpissanite looks and lights like a diamind on a tester unless u have the tester for it

General question: when diamonds are graded, the grading is depending on the opinion the jeweler? Wouldn't that make the specs subjective? When the diamond is GIA certed, do they have a sample diamond that they compare it to determine the diamond's specs? Thanks

Its not depended on the jewler they have standards and numbers of clarity like any other company when they grade old bucks or objects they see how clear the diamond is and they grade it like as he showed the diamond had a scratch and it wasnt flawless if the diamond doesnt have any scratch it is vvs flawless

When selling a diamond does it matter much if you have the downloaded copy of a GIA report or the original?

Gia is the most recognized diamond certify company and anyone will accept their judge when it comes to other company maybe there will be jewlers who wont accpet because they dont know about the other company so its better if u do it in gia since all know them and they famous about certifying diamonds and gems

No papers, retailed for $7999 I got it for $3800 came with a box that didn't even fit the ring lol. First diamond ring I've ever bought. I know alot more about diamond and clarity. Not every thing though.

Jeremy Maloof Go and compliment the diamonds to ur jeweler and once he thanks ask for the GIA papers for the diamonds on your chain. It is common that some disgusting jewelers will lie about the diamonds on their jewelry to rip off first buyers. In my opinion he probably but some VVS2 diamonds in there but mixed with a bunch of low quality diamonds just so he can make extra money

Not sure what you mean by glowing but some diamonds have a property known as flourescence . Under a black light they will appear blue. It is debateable whether this is a good thing or not.

nel6211 it depends on your diamond if its good or not. Near colourless to colourless its a bad thing, since the diamonds will seem more hazy. For lower colour diamonds, they might seem brighter and whiter due to the fluorescence.
