I think I commented on this somewhere before, but for me there is no cheating in art. I realized this very early on when I was working on an art project at my school and visitors came up to me and saw me using Scotch tape on my acrylic painting to get sharp edges. They looked at me stupidly and asked if that was allowed. And at that moment, it "clicked." I hadn't even thought about whether that was cheating and that's when I realized that you should never do that. In art you do what you enjoy and you can take the easiest way to reach your goal. You want to express yourself and the way there is also part of your expression.
Kooleen never fail to make us simp for her oc's. ALSO.. consider adding juicy lips
4:48 Kooleen: it only colors da clothes lasso thing: colors some of the hand too
I use Krita for everything but I have used Clip Studio in 2020. The importing a pose from an image was so fun to use. And from now on I will in fact be calling Goten and Trunks "Lasso Tool and Paint Bucket".

Bless you thank you for these tips! I've been experimenting using the lasso tool to color, but i didn't know about the lasso fill ❤️ this will definitely make the process much easier
Thank you so much for these tips. You're a real life-saver. I had no idea about the anchor point for the transform tool, or using keys with it. I loved the tips on palette, and using a background color helped a lot. I love using the lasso tool to fill, but I didn't know about enclose and fill. Off to go get it! It'll teach me to remember to keep my lineart layer separate from now on. Again, many thanks! Smile 😊 .

I'm an absolute beginner at art ( im literally just on the art fundamentals part) but yt recommended me this channel, and I just LOVE IT. makes me want to draw faster so I can move on to digital art and learn more from you.
I finally got motivated to draw once again after hearing you say that my art sucks. I suddenly wanna do all these tips and prove that I suck 💖🙏 i love you
I'm still struggling with drawing the eyes but this is really helpful!!!!
Thanks Koolen if not for your drawing hacks I'd probably give up on being an artist a long time ago lol
With the color pallet trick, I make my pallet then on a new layer set to color blend mode with a low opacity I wash the pallet with the "vibe" color as a clipping mask then merge those two layers same effect but it keeps the contrast of the original colors. Where just lowering the opacity as you did will lower the contrast of your pallet
The palette trick is absolutely awesome and I can't believe I haven't heard about it before. Thanks!

koleen's videos literally changed my life
Hi Kooleen! I just wanted to say thank you for being so beginner friendly! I’m in the beginning of my digital art(and art in general having done only sketches on paper before) journey and have watched a lot of ‘teaching da for beginners’ videos but i’ve always felt like I can’t apply their advice to my art because of lack of any formal education in art. I’ve always felt like in order to draw I have to know something I don’t and I couldn’t even tell what it was. But once I’ve stumbled upon your channel my art has become so much better. You encouraged me to switch from paint tool sai to csp and I finished my first digital illustration the day I downloaded csp using the brushes you recommended ( I’ve never finished my illustrations before because midway I didn’t like how it was turning out and it demotivated me to finish it). Thank you for making digital art world look less dense and hostile.❤️

Wait so I thought the Instagram post size was 1080 by 1080. How exactly are those dimensions you mentioned better for posting on Instagram? I always just make a large 2000 x 2000 px canvas and then size the canvas down to the Instagram post size (or Twitter, etc) and then post it like that. But it's admittedly tedious and I might be too dumb to realize a smarter way to do it lol.
