Under the sign of the snake | FULL DOCUMENTARY

Xavier Bonnet was born "under the sign of the snake".
A herpetologist of international renown, he travels the world seeking to discover the secrets of reptiles.
Fascinated by their survival strategies and their capacity for adaptation, he studies how certain species evolve in extreme conditions.
On Carnac Island in Australia, where tiger snakes mutilated by their prey survive without their major sense, sight.
On Shedao Island in China, where "Gloydius Shedaoensis" snakes, imprisoned on the island, hunt migrating birds.
In New Caledonia, where the snakes, to free themselves from the constraints of the islands, have acquired the ability to swim.

Good for Old Xavier, who is passionate to work for snakes as one of them. Huge thanks for the video! 😁👍

Pity the narrator calls the snakes poisonous: they are venomous. Poisons need to be ingested. Venoms are injected (except in the case of spitting cobras, who use spitting as a defence).

@@cjames3029it’s not splitting hairs. It’s actually two completely different things used for two completely different reasons. One defense and one offense

The sea snakes are always said to be one of the most potent and deadliest of venomous snakes. But to see a man literally hold them by the handful with no head restraint made me rethink everything I’ve ever been taught about them. Absolutely fascinating view of these mysterious creatures!!! This doc is a little dated but full of gold.

Like it seems that the venom might be of the deadliest but the snakes are not. A kin to that of a coral snake I guess

Xavier is, in my book, an utter maverick. But bringing ur young son along? Hmmm, don't agree with that on any level.
