Based on the *Vdara* sign outside his lounge room window, I can see that this guy lives on the west side of Las Vegas Fwy, slightly South West of the 'Vdara Hotel & Spa' across the road, meaning he's living in the 'Panorama Towers' or 'The Martin' - Great location.. Admittedly, I'm not sure what kind of work exists in Vegas for this guy to be gainfully employed..Haha

Think about it this way, if you go high end on everything, you would never have an expensive house to begin with unless you double your income. Another way to think about it is, there are plenty of million dollar houses that have Toyota's inside their garages.

A 90 degree power cable and HDMI would allow you to push this back a little more to stop it overhanging the shelf edge. Looks very nice though still! :)

Awesome set up! I’ve just purchased a projector for my bedroom, however I don’t have a large blank wall due to windows and furnishings! I was thinking of getting rid of my yellow curtains and simply replacing with a light yellow pull down blind! Then placing the projector on a floating shelf like you have done above my headboard! Fingers crossed it will work and the picture quality won’t be Compromised too much! As a blind will set me back £20 and a pull down projector screen around £50

If you get a bedroom projector setup, you should get something that can switch to projecting on the ceiling as well

Impossible to have it centered unfortunately =\ There’s a metal brace that holds the shelf to the wall and the only gap in it that fits a cable is off center. I’d have to grind out a hole which isn’t worth it on a $30 shelf lol

If the wall is just a plasterboarded stud wall you could drill a hole behind the shelf and feed the cable down the wall. That would hide it completely 👍

I question the need for a projector with a view like that, LOL, but looks like a great setup. A pair of small powered speakers on that shelf would definitely be a great improvement. Greetings from Summerlin.

What a beautiful view from windows your bedroom has! You can probably go for a budget soundbar which you can wall mount above the projector. JBL/Yamaha with built-in sub woofer.

Get a screen or make one .. Will enhance the picture so much ... Or paint a square on the wall to reduce the ambient light reflection... great video ..

Very nice! I'm pretty happy so far with the native 720p Xiaoya W5 that was an insanely cheap $68 about 2 months ago! I had a 50" 4k Vizio break on me and even though it just needs a new ~$50 power board, I'm ok with the projector. I think the double size makes up for the drop in resolution.

Great idea using a shelf ..I had my projector on a bracket from the wall didn't look as tidy as your way ..

Also you could probably get a "right angle HDMI adapter" to eliminate that bend in the cord and get the projector a bit closer to the wall

As far as daytime viewing, your image brightness and contrast would be drastically improved with a good screen, which would be impressive for a budget projector. It's washed out looking without it because the light is being dispersed in all directions, but I get that it's a budget thing.

@JackcatteGoods LOL not even close. 800:1 contrast is garbage. As is it only allowing 4:3 aspect ratio.

I have the Vankyo version of this projector, its a decent projector, only thing I really wish was different about this device was a bit quieter cooling solution.

@techdaily do you use chromecast, apple or any particular streaming device to watch your shows and movies?

Add a borderless projector screen... you'll see about a 25%-30% increase in picture quality. And add ambilight behind the projector screen too... and maybe one large bluetooth speaker as well.

whos needs the projector when you have an amazing view

How's it doing 6 months later? Question for me usually isn't how detailed or bright the projector is, if the listed specs aren't totally lying its usually good enough for me. The question for me is usually how long does it actually last... I bought an Acer projector about 8 years ago, but it didn't last a year before pixels started going out, turning my picture into more of a stellarium.

where did you get your lights?Those look nice.

I would just make a drink, maybe a gin tonic or vodka cranberry and just stare out the window while listening to music for hours..

Can you hook up a mini DVD player to it through the HDMI cable?

The AV port is for composite in via an adapter. Not for audio out.
