UNCOVERING My Music Composition Portfolio (that got me into Columbia for my doctorate degree)

I share my music composition portfolio that got me accepted to Columbia University and the CUNY Graduate Center (both in New York City) for my doctoral degree in music composition.
I ended up attending Columbia University, where at the posting of this video, I am a 6th doctoral student. At Columbia, my dissertation advisor is Prof. Georg Friedrich Haas.
Before this, I went to Juilliard for my master’s degree, where I studied with John Corigliano for two years. And before that, I attended USC for my bachelor’s degree in music composition. Be mindful that this portfolio is from 2016, 6 years ago from the posting of this video. So a lot of music has been written since then!
At this stage, your portfolio should showcase the best of what you can do and show promise in the field of music composition.

Wow, this is quite informative!! 🔥 Surprising how you gradually picked up on using electronics during your doctorate applications. (I'm not certain as to whether you were already using them during your undergrad and masters but just didn't use them for your application) I have a couple of questions tho 😅 1. Is it necessary to also notate electronics when it is being used during your composition. 2. If yes, is there a specific or acceptable way of doing that. Greetings from Ghana 🇬🇭 ❤

Yes I did some level of electronics at all levels but not all of them are that great as far as pieces go. Question 1: yes I would say so. There are a lot of great examples of this on the Score Follower KZread channel. Question 2. There is no standard way but it should be as clear as possible! Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
