UNCLOGGING CULVERTS WITH BACKED UP WATER! 05/2024 NT#44

FAQs/Why would they do that?! Answers
We are so glad you are here! Welcome to our channel!
1. We are in Oklahoma near the Arkansas border.
2. We do this on a volunteer basis.
3. Kim aka Mom is retired. Jennifer owns her own business as a massage therapist.
4. We film multiple locations in one day since we can’t go out all the time given Jen’s full time job. You may not see all the locations we filmed that day in one video.
5. You may see other people in our videos at times including Granny aka Sue (mom’s mom), Jeff (Kim’s husband and Jennifer’s dad), or Jessica (Jennifer’s little sister) and Lucy (our beautiful, amazing, wonderful dog).
6. Many wonder why we put stuff down culverts. A few reasons: it provides help for wildlife, we like to and it would have gone downstream anyway. If it blocks another culvert then we will take care of that too but most of the locations we visit are in incredibly rural areas where there won’t be another culvert for miles.
7. We care about wildlife and never want to cause harm to them. The only reason we will clear a beaver damn is if it is threatening land or roads that can not be accessed any other way. It may not be the road directly within sight but a farm road close by.
8. We appreciate advice in the comments. We understand that we will receive constructive criticism in the comments. What we won’t allow is the calling of names, derogatory terms, or just plain calling us stupid or idiots. We are all adults here and the internet is already a largely negative place as it is, let’s not add to it. We are people doing our best to help our neighborhood and planet by picking up trash and clearing culverts. Why do we deserve hate for that?
9. You may not agree with or like the way we did something but that doesn’t mean we did it wrong. There is a right/wrong way to dismantle a bomb. Clearing culverts is up for interpretation to the one doing the work.
10. We hope that you enjoy our videos and will keep coming back for more! Any other questions you have feel free to ask in the comments.

    Another great video. Have you considered numbering the culvert locations so we can say, oh yeah I remember that one and then you have a yearly look at the differences in them. Keep up the good work.

Mom and I think alike, I would have moved those small rocks with my foot too😂 I often wonder if having a pry bar with you would help bend some of the damaged culverts. The reason why the culverts seem high is because, by removing rocks in front of the culverts, water runs faster, causing erosion.

  • @shawnbarczak1766

    @shawnbarczak1766

    I will agree with this, but by watching post10 as well sometimes areas will set 1 culvert higher than another as an overflow type of system. Perhaps that was the way or you may be correct on the rock aspect.

    Your potato rakes are a great tool but please when you put them on the ground face those sharp tines DOWN. With all the slippery scenes you have around you I would hate to see you get impaled by your own fault!😢
