50hp Yamaha 4 stroke, built in 2017.This is what worked for me when no water was coming out the tell tale when the motor was running in a large bucket of water. My motor has the garden hose fitting for rinsing with the motor off. What I did to unblock it is simply put my finger over the tell tale orifice to back-flush the line while I had the water running through the hose fitting, which worked great!. Hopes this helps another fellow boat owner!

My tell-tale wasn't working after i cruised around at low tide in the gulf and got it stopped up. I usually can get it flowing with a piece of wire I carry onboard but this time, nope. I changed the impeller and I'm working on putting the lower unit back on. This is why it's always good practice to flush your engine after muddy fishing trips and not be lazy. Salty mud can harden in your engine block and cause a lot of wasted time and money. ( Rusty)

I had the same issue with my 50 Merc. Took the lower off and sprayed water up the water pickup tube and flushed all the gunk out.

Hey Chris, how are you. I have the similar engine in mercury bigfoot 60 2 stroke. My problem is that i have changed the thermostat, poppet valve and the water pump and still no water is pumping in the cylinder. The engine is overheating at idle and the tell tale is working fine. I thing there is something obstructing the water as the engine is in 1 piece can't really do much. Can you help please Thanks Man.

Now put a new handle and some stem packing in that spicket! ;)

Hello. I am having a problem with my Yamaha 70 2 stroke . It's not passing out water from the pump.out the hose. Not sure if it's clogged up or needs a new impeller. Are you anywhere close to Highlands tx. Just need some advice or help . Thank you very much...

I use a marinade syringe filled with water,carry it on the boat so you can use it any time.

So in order for the tell tail to properly pee you need to get the motor to a warmer temperature?? That would make sense when I try it in a barrel that it doesn't flow immediately??

great vid. you could blow it out in the other direction. The clog was made the same direction.

Will a clogged pee hole affect high rpm performance, every time I hit sand it'll bog down when I'm 4500 rpms or higher.?

I think the same thing happened to my 115 yamaha, it was pumping on the muffs. the stopped and the alarm came on.

If water is sputtering at high rpms , no steady flow, but normal flow during low to mid throttle?

Couple of items to change. first don't point air gun at your face. Kids could see you do this. Second blow air thro' the hose from the outside (reverse)

Dude, you need to read air compressor safety, because spraying out here in your mouth could’ve got air underneath the skin
