Personally, I like the idea for this very reason. But I would've made the connections between Red and Uncle clearer and made away with the inconsistencies to make it fit. Given RDR1 was a spiritual sequel, it'd make sense if Red was depicted slightly differently as Uncle but still shown as a sharpshooter to cement the connection.
