Great first video! would highly recommend mixing / inoculating in different angles / spots as it dramatically speeds up colonisation and it’s a myth that spores need to “find” each other

Right on. And not to mention avoiding accidentally stabbing through the bag and into your skin with funky innoculation methods.
Do we have any updates coming!!! Even a quick look at how colonization is going would be great.
Amazon has a $30 plastic foldable still air box designed for this, with the hand holes. It's not the best thing you can get but it's better than not having one. Just rub the inside with 70% alcohol. Also use individually packaged alcohol pads when cleaning your needle, and don't rub the actual needle if it's fresh from the package
This is gonna be a great channel🙏
Excellent video just subscribe
Should have made air ports at the tops of the bags.
This dude can afford a Monotub AND a growing tent, but a creme brulee torch? "Oh, we can't afford that. What do you think this is, a KZread channel."
“Neglect tech”! Ha ah

It's a pretty common term.

True. Because we all have a tendency, at least in the beginning to pick up the bags, inspect them, on a more than necessary basis.
".. that's a double sided coin." Don't all coins have 2 sides? I would much rather have a double edge sword. On the one side, hot enough to encourage growth, but not hot enough to cut yourself.
Bathrooms and kitchens are the worst place for contaminants, the amount of mould spores in these areas are much higher than if you were to do it in another room. Bathrooms particularly need ventilation as spores can reach tens of thousands per cubic meter especially if you see mould visible.

I totally agree. I mean, props to the kid for taping up the vents and being mindful of the air flow, but yeah, mold spores, bacteria, all sorts of crap floating around that warm humid environment.

Alot of people use these "extra" bathrooms that only have a toilet and a sink. Its entirely sterile if it's clean and unused.

@@spiet7380 A bathroom that has a sink and a toilet, regardless of how “clean” you keep it will always have the potential to be a breading ground for mould, this is simply because mould thrives in areas where moisture is present. Like I said earlier, bathrooms and kitchens are the worst places for contaminants ,that isn’t to say that you can’t successfully grow mushrooms in these places however it will increase the chance of contamination.
I want your connect...no B+ culture anywhere on the site.

I've tried inoculate the world, and while they have ok stains, I'd try Pacific Northwest Spores. Seems to be a little bit better quality there.

Dude, they changed the recipe... too much moisture. Use off brand 90-second rice... will be far more successful.

Did they do that intentionally I wonder? Bone heads

You are 100% right on this one….if I use uncle Ben’s it will mold everytime but if I use the great value brand in the blue bag it works perfectly
Doing this in your bathroom is the worst place you can do anything. You're going to learn a hard lesson. Good luck

Ikr. Obviously not a mycologist. He'll learn fast. Unless this bathroom isn't ever used and is thoroughly cleaned. If that's the case he's fine .

Right, but @stlknowswhy makes a good point. And, if your making these vids as semi-instructional, may be a good idea to make small mistakes on your own time.
I really enjoyed the part where I got to watch him wipe down the rack and the scissors. I never knew how to do that before.

Well it stresses the point of how important it is to sanitize everything. You can wipe down 95% of your equipment and still get contamination because you missed a little spot and spores got in
@mattborski

I agree. It is important to do so. I was just busting balls because in the 50 seconds it took to watch him wipe those down, he could have said outloud, "[I can't stress enough] how important it is ..."
You needed to show the results. Lame

It’s easy to call people lame while hiding behind anonymity. I found this helpful because the first time I used uncle Ben’s rise about a year ago it worked great. And I thought I remembered how to do it, but it just wasn’t growing as fast as I thought it should so I found a video and this was it. I forgot the air exchange ports! I hope it’s not too late. Probably not knowing help fast things grow when you let them.

No point showing actives on KZread, I'm sure you have seen some of the veteran channels being deleted.
