That was an incredible performance! Clarinet soloist knocked it out of the park!
Honestly one of the best performances I've ever heard of this piece. Wow!

North Texas has a better recording in my opinion
Wow, this was awesome. One of the best brass sections I've ever heard on Blue Shades. And you gotta love that bass bone!

The brass was the best by far. Everything else was too SQUARE....it's jazz! There are all kinds of accents, etc that were just not played. And the jazz phrasing was non-existent, like on the first page, where the clarinets have the swung 8th notes...they did not swing, because there were no accents, no phrasing.....it was just a bunch of notes.

Always loved how the frenchies rip through this. Bass bone adds what I’ve always wanted!
this is the video that should have hundreds of thousands of views. this is THE best recording of Blue Shades on KZread. BRAVO that was spectacular
Finally someone that could play the clarinet part good 😝
Thanks for making this available. It's very helpful for my preparing (with a sense of comfort) my percussion 2 part on this piece. I do find the beat frame for the 3/4 sections awkward [ that is, the baton moving overly toward the center of the body on beat 2 ] -but the performance was tight.
Wow! Great low brass!

sometimes the brass with clarinetts accentuating stuff it almost seems Gershwinesque. Mr Tichelli is a wonderful composer.
Nice horn rips at 5:50
Bass clarinet could have been louder
