Unbreakable | Using Udio to generate a song in the style of the Rolling Stones
Exploring Udio's revolutionary approach to music generation
In artificial intelligence (AI) music generation, a new player has emerged to challenge the reigning champion, Suno AI. Enter Udio, a platform that promises to take AI-generated music to new heights.
Out of curiosity, I tested the tool to see what would happen by feeding it a prompt that Suno AI couldn't handle: the name of one great band, the Rolling Stones.
While Suno AI would typically reject such a direct band name prompt, Udio showcased its sophistication by generating two songs replacing the band name in the prompt with a series of suitable descriptors:
Prompt: Male vocalist, Rock, Blues rock, Psychedelic rock, Rhythmic, Psychedelia, Garage rock, Chaotic.
And the following Lyrics:
You got the heart of rock 'n' roll you simply can't control
[Chorus]
Roll on! (Rolling Stones)
Bold sound! (Rolling Stones)
Yeah, roll! (Rolling Stones)
They won't break, they won't come down! (They won't come down)
Roll on! (Rolling Stones)
The AI-generated lyrics, while admittedly corny and recognizable as the work of an AI, serve as a fascinating glimpse into the current state of lyrical generation algorithms.
Udio makes it easy to add more pieces to the song, so I just added an intro and an end, to be able to make a music video. The resulting song, while not a perfect replica of the iconic band's sound, captures the essence of their style.

The very idea that software could be used to replicate something that came from actual human feelings, from KNOWING how to play an instrument, is an abomination.
Sounds a bit more like Them with Van Morrison.
So the definitive answer is, No, AI cannot create a Stones song.

A little bit of tweaking and it would sound like the Stones. Clean up the lyrics so they're not tacky. Use samples of Mick Jagger's voice.

@@alukuhito These tools are kinda limited now, the editing is clunky. But let's hope it advances enough to make this possible while solving the issues of copyright.

@@frankspeaking It's a danger, yes. But there are other changes: I now value more the ability to play an instrument, and I'm more willing to go to see artists play live.
