I too was disappointed with the box. Also, the ejector seat works BUT when you put the bad guy in the seat, 9 times out of 10 when you close the roof he falls out of the seat inside the car and the ejector seat jams! Looks good as a display piece, but not good when you come to use the ejector seat.

The Corgi Collector Club model is what this model should have been, chalk and cheese.

I recently bought the "remake" you are showing Sir, and I totally agree with you regarding the wheels and the box which is sticked together with only double sided tape (C'mon Corgi !). I have more than 20 years experience in graphic design and packaging and it looks like the die-line used to make the cutting of the box hasn't been properly tested before going into production either that or at the last minute they may have switched to another kind of cardboard, because it doesn't fit properly. Other than that I think it looks pretty nice. My son begs me everyday to look at this diecast and test the gadgets. This reminds me of my youth. I used to have the 270 version which I regret not having anymore. The 270 was "THE TOY" I preferred and I would love having another one, but for a mint one ; a bit too expensive for my budget. Yes I am a nostalgic guy. I also noticed that they may had problems to fit the ejector seat because of the way they had to flatten the legs of the baddy, otherwise it wouldn't fit. I find the colour very nice and I also appreciate the care they put over the details of the car, but the new wheels just reduce the perception of quality of this nice diecast. The bullet proof shield wont remain hidden, but I found a solution to that ; I just have to strongly press on the exhauxt pipes, then lower the shield as low as possible, then release de pressure on the exhaust pipes and it works for me. I also bought a facsimile replica of the 261 made by the Corgi Model Club ; and THAT is incredibly well done ; I think Corgi surpassed themselves on that exact copy of the 261. It just looks like they found a hidden box filled with the original one but recreated the box to put it inside. I start to love the GOLD colour finish on these two models, even though I was more familiar with the 270 which is silver. By the way, They should also make a facsimile version of the 270 as they did for the 261 ( I mean the Corgi Model Club ; more accurate in their work ) . Overall I am personally pleased with both models but prefer the exact replica of the "Model Club" because it is perfect.

I know this video is from a couple years ago, I did not see an update, but the replica I got is completely different. I ordered from the Corgi Model Club USA June 2023 and the casting I got is very close to the original and not like he replica you are showing. My model came with an extra bad guy, no rotating license plate, bullet proof shield looks the same, the size looks the same, etc. I don't know if the casting changed or if you have something very different than what I have? The box was in good shape and I was very pleased with product.

If it’s a good replica of the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 261 you want take a look at the Corgi Model Club version.This one is much more like the original from the 60’s.In my opinion Corgi’s own version is more like the later no270 version but nice to collect nevertheless.

I was really satisfied with mine, but then again, my expectations weren’t that high. I’ve got my original still that my parents bought for me in Hamleys. The box was ok with mine. The only gripe I have, is that it took so long from I ordered until I received it, that I’d forgotten the order 😀. However I’m sure they had to have enough pre-orders before they could start production.

Hey great video there! So I just started collecting Bond Corgi cars in the beginning of 2022. And I just got the new Goldfinger one this week . It’s my 3rd Bond car. I like it. I like the look. But man the gun shield is really hard to put back into place. My big thumb can’t do it. I need to used a thin screwdriver to push it back into place. Also I thought there would be a Second Henchman like the original but there isn’t. I thought I saw a video where there’s two. All well. Hopefully someday I’ll get the Original. Great video!!!

Took a whole year to deliver my car. Ejector seat probs they said. Happy with it.

they delayed it to release it after the no time to die toys, its annoying they lied about delays, i took photos of the mock up in 2019 at the trade fair. its a great effort, its one of my all time favourite toys, but i still love the original ! hope you enjoyed the video and thank you for your comment. stay safe ! I like it. But I know collecting means different things to different people. Corgi are good at replacing if the box was damaged. But I will be getting the Corgi Model Club version. Their reproductions are impeccable.

Hmm, a bit disappointing. I think you have to join the Corgi Model Club to get a proper replica of the old toy. They are doing some nice reissues.

Not at the minute, I’ve had a bit of a ding dong with corgi/Hornby at the moment, I’m hoping to see any new prototypes in February though ! If they haven’t released it by then, they sat on the db5 for years 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for commenting. M

I'm not complaining since I got it cheap, but it's good to have nevertheless. It's strange that I prefer the gold Astons to the silver ones, even though the actual 007 car is silver.

The corgi model club reissue is being posted this month. Apparently it's a proper replica of the 261 rather than a rehashed 271. Can you obtain an example and do a comparison please?

yes the whole original model is a DB4 they didn't have time to recast the model in time for release Christmas 1965, thats why it looks so different to the later DB5's and i think its what make the original so unique too ! hope you enjoyed the video & thank you for your comment ! stay safe. M

Is the bullet proof screen plastic? The “chrome” suggests it is, but the bare metal look of the original is closer to the actual car. The shape of the grille is much better than the new version, which lack shape on the top corners which are straight rather than seductively curved.

The DB5 had one fuel tank

Sorry I think the standard car has twin fuel tanks and a petrol flap on each side of the car, the db4 had one that’s how they figured out corgi had used the db4 model to make the original bond toy, hope you enjoyed the video. Best wishes. M

I got my one today and was not happy with it, The box is not good and its a 270 in gold not a 260. Come on corgi we want I new 260!!

Just buy the corgi model club edition. They are making proper replicas and their 261 version is out now....

Is this remake made in Britain? I want one but only if its made in Britain.

Sadly I don’t think the remake will be made in the UK, but around three million of the original ones were produced, and finding relatively good condition ones isn’t that hard if you know where to look. I’d recommend doing a search on the saleroom.com or look for a specialist toy auctioneer, or even try a Barry Potter toy fair. Or evilbay if not ! Happy toy hunting. M

Good review,colour is not great but the bad guy looks terrible like he’s melted by the fire or made of blutack and the wheels also look worse,no separate spokes.Not surprisingly it’s worse all round which is usually the case.Happy Christmas 🎅

i was being super picky because the old one is such a classic, but there are areas for improvement that corgi didn't make, which kets it down, the flip side of that is as a collector i have to buy one 🤣🤣🤣 more fool me, but i do love this toy ! hope you enjoyed the video & thank you for commenting ! stay safe. I'm shocked at the poor quality of the packaging. For Corgi, the JB Aston's are the jewels of their range and they know collectors treasure the packing of these toys -----just not good enough! The plus points of the re-issue are the paintwork which is lovely (although the colour is a little off) and the fact that they made the packaging slightly bigger and different enough not to detract from the originals or to confuse future collectors. The moulds/castings of the original 'Gold' model must be either lost or damaged because, once again they have based this using the larger 271 model.

its a great toy but i'm glad its not as good as the original ! the thing that annoyed me about making the box bigger wes stuffing two bits of card in each end to stop it rattling about, that just seems pointless, they should have made the inner tray bidder too ! and the sate of the box and quality of the print aren't great either, that aside its a good effort 😂😂😂i have to agree the gold colour isn't great, i think that has something to do with the less toxic and friendly paints they are using now, so i don't mind that. they had to re-tool the toy in 1968 (270) after quality of the 261 toys had dropped, this casting was used 1978.
