UNBOXING THE MICROSOFT HOLOLENS AND SETUP

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I bought a Microsoft HoloLens to develop stuff on it! As of August 2, 2016, developers in the United States and Canada can now order up to five devices per Microsoft Account (MSA) directly from the online Microsoft Store. There’s no application, and your devices will ship within a few days.
Leave any questions you might have about the HoloLens in the comments!

six sided Would apple designed their own VR glasses similar to hololens and would cost $3,000? Think about it. Microsoft didn't say anything that the hololens was aimed for the consumer. Meanwhile, there is the htc vive which cost less than this. Which product would you think consumer will get?

Bro, that's not cool. Yeah, the unboxing section was annoying but he's done a pretty good demo of a 3000$ product as a service to the youtube community and he's one of the first and few to have done it. Comments like that are disrespectful and totally ungrateful. FYI, if you're watching youtube using HTML5, you can speed up the video by clicking the little gear icon and selecting a different speed. I personally watch all the videos at 1.5 speed. If it's a really long 40min video, I watch it at 2 speed and switch to 1.5 when they're talking about stuff that interests me. Hope that helps.

Awsome unbox. I learned alot about projection and computer apps. looks more realistic than Google glass., because it's a bigger screen . How this technology works is simply projecting a black screen . than adding light contrasts. if you have a BBQ grill. and the sun reflects off it . you'll see the sun as white. rather yellow.

The field of view will get wider right? Like a lot wider. Like full spectrum. Because if it doesn't increase by a lot than it sucks. So I hope it does. Amazing tech. I think this stuff will make TVs and monitors obsolete within 5-10 years.

You get used to it, but you know in the back of your mind that it can be better because you'll watch a video of a HoloLens recording, and you'll think to yourself, "I didn't see all of that." With the consumer version of HoloLens, FOV will definitely be better. FOV or resolution is one of those things that consistently gets better with most VR and AR products, so I wouldn't worry about it.

  • @zrex2metagor

Its not possible, atleast not with current technology. We have studies in nural networking, but its no where remotely close to the the Nerve Gear. The fictional Nerve Gear locks you into the cyberspace world with a 7D reality, we are still not in that space, and I'm willing to bet that we wont be in that space for another 100 or 200 years, if ever. I mean hey, I'm sure back in the 1800's no one thought current 'electronic' computers could ever be real, or KZread could be real, so I cant just say its impossible, but yeah, we are no where close to the Nerve Gear. Plus, the Nerve Gear is pure VR, the hololens is AR.

Christopher Lee doesn't matter principle is the same both will require some Nero link most likely. my point is that the estimation is off . considering processing power increases every 6 months I doubt a 200 year to even a 50 year span is what it will take. or it will burn and we won't get it because the technology crashes.

destin creech We have different definitions of "remote" and "far away", and I actually agree with you in time scale. I just don't think we're going to see this technology in the next five to ten years, and I think Kurzweil's estimates of a 2047 singularity wildly optimistic. I'd love for it to actually happen, of course, but I'm not putting money on it.

  • @MrComputercracker

    7 жыл бұрын

M.L OK. Why couldn't you just have the hololense recreate a virtual prerendered space to overlay onto the user's surroundings? I feel like that would allow for a bigger fov, though may require a faster processor. Also how many gigahertz does the current hololense processor run at?

upload a 2D image of a square to the hololens. Make the square 5x5 feet. This will be the top down overlay of the real space. Use that over lay to create a calibration program so the hololens can calibrate itself along the Z and X axis. But how do I make a calibration program? Put clearly visible markers for the physical representation of the virtual space around your work space, then stand on one edge of the perceived cube space and turn your body 360 degrees. This will allow the hololens to create a 3D landscape picture of the entire room from one side of the square. Do this for all four sides. Now design a program to stitch all four pictures together and create a virtual space. This way it just needs to be placed into a calibration space when not in use. Does that sound like it could work?

Upgrades that the hololens needs: 1. (Command/button needed) You can go on KZread/Skype/Twitter etc. Without moving your body by improving the part of the device that receives microwaves from the brain and maybe canceling out physical movement, to make it a bit easier for sending brain waves the lens can be a helmet instead (I sound smart but idrk what I'm saying XD) 2. You can play games by inserting a cd/usb into the hololens (or the holohelm) I need more ideas ;-; Plus I just want SAO to happen irl ;-; Minus the "of u die in game, you die irl" thing Sounds easier said than done, but with these kinds of technology, I'm sure it'll happen! I'm too dumb to make any of these but once I will put my trust in humanity

Its closer to AR (Augmented Reality similar to Pokemon Go using the camera) than actual holograms. I had clock that displayed the time on a clear window I got for $1 online a few years ago. The tech isn't new, its just being applied in a different way. If youre clever enough you could actually use the Samsung Gear to greater effect as it doesnt cover the whole phone and so you can use the camera on the device in place of a clear glass window. The resolution isnt going to be that fantastic, not at least until it reaches later stages of development and it is at best as powerful as an old iPhone. as for portability, a laptop and a mini projector (pico pro or the likes) can give you a screen well over 100" with processing power easily 5-10x faster. Not to mention a longer battery life on laptops and the ability to "plug and play" without an annoying cable hanging from your head. Also, a laptop is much cheaper overall, Ive got a 500 dollar laptop that can play most games at high settings vs the hololens being a $3000 equivalent to the iPhone 5 with a few extra sensors.
