Living in the Seattle area, I've come to really appreciate heavy denim as I can wear it for 8 to 9 months a year. The heavier weight denim sells so darn fast!! I adore my Oni 20oz secret denim in the high taper. I'll probably try the N&F King of Slub too.

So glad to finally see Kato's! Been very curious to see what you think of em for a while now :)

I just bought a pair of C17 (old skool French) selvedge jeans….and I bought them for £33….they have 1% elastane and they are fantastic! As a work jean they’ll be fabulous.

Beautiful jeans and nice review. Have you ever tried and/or reviewed Uniqlo's selvedge jeans? Would love to hear what you think of those. I always see people raving about them and how they are the best bang for your buck at $50 a pair.

Good call! I mostly wear Taylor Stitch's Democratic Foundation pants for chinos. I prefer canvas pants if I'm not wearing jeans personally but yes I'll work on that

man I would love to see you try some wider leg jeans. You've got a pretty nice solid physique, a pair of non-tapered (and maybe higher waisted) jeans would really compliment your proportions. Sometimes a tapered jean makes our torsos look longer and our legs look shorter than they are. Have you ever looked at TCB?? Regardless, these are all sick pairs, happy fading man!

It's funny I was talking to the guy who owns Standard and Strange who was saying there was a boom in raw denim /heritage stuff from like 2007-2013 and then it fell off, with the theory being that once everyone had buy it for life gear, they stopped buying!

Nick does that mean I can have all your old selvedge denim 😭? I’d say maybe the only pair you’re missing is a more relaxed fit denim in like a vintage blue. I know you like tapered jeans but man as someone who also exclusively wore tapered jeans and still do, it’s nice to have that one relaxed pair that I can just slap on and run around in.

Shame no Blackhorse Lanes. They are great too. Similar to Shockoe but English. I dig the American makers too, shout out to Rogue Territory and 3Sixteen. I just need more normal/wide fitting denim. No more slim cut nonsense.

I'm shocked that you've never had riveted back pockets. That's basically standard for jeans - are you sure your jeans don't have hidden rivets? Those are usually pretty desirable since the rivets won't, say, scratch up paint jobs on cars you're leaning against.

Most of these people will be lucky to hold on to their jeans for 5 months, let alone wear them for that long. Always buying the next new 'in' thing & therefore they'll never get the desired fade. Now I got some jeans going back 30 yrs (they just fit) & the others between 10-20yrs (they fit good) which have good fade & wear.

Secret denim is otherworldly.

Raleigh is by far the most pretentious denim brand. And about $150 over priced compared to brands of the same build quality. Can't stand them.
