More than a "compact" subwoofer, this is a really music powerhouse. At the beginning I admit that my feelings was not that good, the idea was to deal with an expensive audiophile stuff because of the name (and the marketing), but thanks to your sneak peak it seems to be really worthy. Thanks again. Regards and many compliments for your channel.

Adrian - thanks for bringing us "delicious looking" gear via your channel. Re: High-Pass Delay feature - while I've not looked it up, my guess is that it only works when hi-pass filter output is active and it's to delay your mains when sub(s) are positioned behind the mains and further from the listening position. Not sure if the delay feature is expressed in distance (feet) or milliseconds (with 15"=1ms when using 1250'/sec speed of sound). Be sure to let us know how they sound . . .

I attended the launch by the distributor in South Africa. This thing is unbelievable! We listened to to dual Lokis with TuneTots and and Alexia. Both presentations were off the charts. I’ve no doubt it’s a superb sounding sub. Adrian quite rightly stated you’re better off with stereo subs. That’s equal to the cost of a family car, or, a down payment on a property! I have multiple Rel subs, which in total cost less than one of them. There are essentially 3 settings to play with a Rel. Gain or intensity, crossover and phase. Even so, it took me months of experimentation, trial and error to get them dialled in to my listening preference. I recently purchased a premium OLED tv and had to employ a calibrator to optimise picture performance. I think I’d need to employ an audio technician to help dial that sub in. When it comes to hifi, I’m a 2 channel man. A minimalist and a purest. I believe simplicity is the key to purest performance. I like to set a component up with minimal effort, then forget about it. Not have to keep making adjustments according to what I’m listening to. That is an expensive sub with a complex user interface. For that amount of money, you would have thought that the least Wilson could do, is make life simpler and more convenient by equipping the unit with a remote control!

This subwoofer is being discussed in r/audiophile (reddit). Apparently the Sub plate amp installed is the same as some generic subs including Dayton audio. I know it has a different implementation but I mean for the price difference, it feels like 80% of the price is just for the Wilson brand. I do like the Wilson design of speakers though.

@@TheDanEdwards even if thats the case, how can you be assured that Wilson didn’t cheap out on these other parts and assembly given that they can slap a generic amp on to it for that price? And lets do say they did all the state of the art work on the cones, crossover and assembly, wouldn’t you want to put a better amp in their to maximize all the work you did rather than put a generic amp? Anyway you are already charging more than 10grand might as well make it 12-15grand to truly make it high end. It doesn’t make sense for a high end brand. Again unless probably someone opens the box and proves doubters wrong the price is again too much for what we can see outside(despite the sound). But then again I digress as we are talking about Wilsons so if one can afford their speakers, this is probably pancakes for them. At the end of the day they want the matched design and the name.
