Wow thanks for the support and feedback everyone! I didn't realize how much this video has grown since the last time I checked, thank you! I'm happy I could share my experience with this guitar with so many folks. I still play it all the time, it has become my go-to guitar. I'm really starting to like Telecasters :)

You have the exact worn SG I wanted as a kid AND the exact SG Standard I have. I like this guy.
I just got mine tonight and chuckled remembering this video of you cutting out the getting out of box portion 😂 Wow that was a tight fit but got it done without destroying the box or guitar. I think everything was perfect about it. I’m not changing a thing on it.

Good vid 👌 . The pickups sound great. Just bought one of these - arrives in a few days.

I also bought a new old stock MIC CV50's in white blonde. Mine was only 7.2lbs. Mine oddly appears to be just one piece of wood also, which is super rare. It is fantastic. Plays awesome, sounds awesome. Absolutely love this guitar.
I've got the 1st year run 2008 of the teleocaster white one with brass saddles! Great pickups! Very nice!
Thanks so much for this video! I love all your videos, but this one really helped me make a decision about buying this guitar.
I bought the same one...glad to see your honest opinion...
The knobs started being switched in 2018. The vintage blonde came with flat knobs instead of dome toward the end of 2018 but that’s the only thing. It’s still pine it’s still brass saddled it has the correct decal placement and string trees as well
I’m currently checking these out and found your video really helpful. Clear commentary, good shots, good tone examples. And some great licks, too. Thanks for your work 👍

P.S. So I bought one!
I bought one about 5 years ago. I bought Graph Tech intonated saddles. They’re made of Black Tusq & they really enhance the tone & vastly improve the intonation. I also bought a Warmoth Conversion neck that gives me a Gibson Scale (24.75”) as opposed to the Fender scale (25.5”). The Warmoth neck is unfinished and has a compound radius of 10”-16”. Makes it really fun & easy to play. I also replaced the tuners with real Kluson Tuners. I thought mine was heavy at 8.5lbs, and I may route out under the pickguard to lighten it, plus I’m expecting to put a humbucker sized P90 in the neck position. But for $399 - it’s well worth the money. Also - the Blonde version has Alnico III pickups in it. The Butterscotch version has Alnico V’s in it. I prefer the Alnico III’s - I play Blues and Alnico III’s are more ideal for that genre.
I came here for a video involving people getting excited over bone nuts. And I was not disappointed!
I just picked up a mint 2011 and it has brass saddles, solid metal dome knobs with set screws, a thicker neck profile (not “chunky” by any means), full-size alpha pots, and period correct string tree placement. It’s the best Telecaster that I’ve owned by far.
4:44 made my day
Harley Benton TE-70 Black Paisley would be my choice. Nice video. I did think you were going to drop the guitar with that interesting unboxing technique.
I love the name of this channel
You are an excellent reviewer sir ! thank you ! I think the weight may a dealbreaker for me but otherwise you sold me !
I enjoyed your video. I owned the older version, traded it, and now own the new one. I believe the differences are minimal both play and sound great to me. I was surprised to see mine had an 8 screw pickguard with pickup adjustment screws since a 5 screw pickguard is 50's correct. Just another difference between the old and new.
I have the butterscotch version. It’s a 2019 MIC. I had a tech change out the pots and put a 4-way switch in which made this one of the most versatile instruments I own. I’m not a Tele guy really, so this was a great way to get into that world....
You should check Fender's site. The 50's CV Tele lists as: Pine body, bone nut, narrow tall frets, Fender designed Alnico pickups, etc. I'd trust Fender's site over sellers. Also, you can always email Fender directly with questions. They're good about getting back to you pretty quickly.
I just got one these replaced the tuners with locking tuners, replaced this saddles with brass, replaced the jack , knobs, put in a 4 way switch, 500 k pots, orange drop cap. And put a Gibson p-90 in the neck 50s wiring. Gave it a set up. It’s my second one the first one I put in a 4 way and Dimarzio twang king pickups, locking tuners, graphtek nut, love them both. I like that p-90 and will leave that in for awhile might put in a humbucker Those 4 way switches really add new sounds ; bridge, series, parallel, neck.
Love the video, keep em coming. I have the classic vibe Tele Deluxe and love it.
Nice! I got one in butterscotch blonde. I love mine!
thanks for this video👍
Great video. Thinking about buying a telecaster myself and was drawn between Classic vibe 50 or Fender Player. However after hearing that Fender have put the price up on the Player by $100 (between £80 - £100 hear in UK) decided to check price’s and sure enough within the last few days the price has risen on average by around £80 After watching your video you’ve definitely made my mind up, the classic vibe 50 it’s going to be. Cheers on some great advice
I was going to buy a 50’s Vibe Tele at the beginning of this year. I wasn’t happy that they changed the frets from medium jumbo to tall narrow. I ended up buying an American Fender Performer Tele, which was still under a grand, but had everything I was looking for: brass saddles, medium jumbo frets, maple neck, alder body and single coils. Nice Guitar, it has got me thru lockdown 1 and will no doubt help me thru lockdown 2+.
Nice review! Subscribed so you're now at 34! Woohoo!

I just bought this same guitar used (2018 Made in China). From my research there are definitely differences with the new 2020 releases. First of all just like before the VB color and BSB color have different pickups Alnico III for the VB and Alnico V for the BSB this remains the same. Brass saddles, domed knobs, other cosmetic changes on previous releases, and Made in China. Chromed saddles, flat knobs, and Made in Indonesia for 2020 releases. Confusing yes, as some websites now sell the new releases but might still post pre-2020 specs. Conclusions: It appears Squier has switched production factories and now will produce CV Telecasters in Indonesia moving forward. Some have speculated that this to reduce cost of manufacturing, perhaps this factory can produce more volume. For Squier the CV series has sold very well in the past and is regarded as a great and well made guitar. With that reputation, reducing cost while increasing volume would be a smart idea from a sales point of view. Whether the quality has been downgraded is up to you to decide and compare. My two cents: For now if you can, it may be wise to find a used pre-2020 CV you may be able to find it cheaper than a brand new release with what some might describe as "better specs". I have a feeling that over the years the older models will become more desirable and prices on them may even start to go up. The CV Telecaster is a great guitar and I'm very happy with mine.

A good way to improve tuning stability : put graphite in the nut slots,or replace it with a graphtech nut.Locking tuners and graphtech saddles would also help with tuning, and maybe add a graphite string tree - eliminate all of the places that would cause the strings to hang up.I prefer Ernie Ball Slinky strings, 10-46 gauge. For the circuitry, a 4-way switch would REALLY open up a lot of tonal possibilities.😃Keep pickin'
So long as the strings dont have too much wrap around the machinehead posts and are well stretched, nut slots are well cut then it should stay in tune fine. I have couple CV Squiers and a great VM strat and no tuning issues.
I have a butterscotch CV. Unbelievable guitar. Pine body chrome plated brass saddles. The neck is awesome roasted maple a little flame. Just as nice as the MIM FSR tele I have.
I just bought a Classic Vibe 60s Thinline Tele and I am in love with it. I have several other Teles including a early 90s 52 US reissue and this guitar is every bit as nice as any of my other Teles.

My CV '50s Tele is a 2015. Brass saddles, 5 screw pickguard, string retainer just below the D string tuner, butterscotch color. I find it odd that yours has the 8 screw pickguard and the string retainer located below the A string tuner. The way you describe the neck seems to be thinner than mine would be. I can't imagine how two guitars that are so different can both be _Classic Vibe '50s_ . Early and late '50s maybe? 😄
I saw a review on Anderton's and they said they have chrome plated brass saddles.
I got one of the old Chinese ones, it's incredibly heavy, great to play sitting down.
I’ve heard it’s super nice and great buy, plug it in
Gave yourself a difficult task getting a Tele and not being a Tele guy . These get a great name and the next step up -Player Series -are much more expensive . Decent strings and a pro -setup should make it so much better . The pine ones can apparently vary widely in weight . Thanks for the video as I’m thinking about getting a Tele but not gonna bust the bank 🏴Cheers from Scotland 👍
Good video. I enjoyed the review. New sun here
nice!
I got a 60s CV tele custom that I swapped out the neck for a Allparts fat tele neck. Sprayed it with nitro. It feels really good. The original neck was rediculous slim !

I also put a humbucker in the neck !
I have one that I bought in 2014/15, brass saddles, medium jumbo frets, rounded knobs and made in China. I am curious to try a 2020 version, but had a bad experience with a CV 50s strat I bough this year, so I decided to save for a Fender Player strat rather than take another chance on a Squier CV. It's hard to buy guitars when in lockdown!
@daanieele

right choice, new CV made in Indonesia mechanics are low low low low quality I can guarantee this
Your Tele has a great clean tone. What was your Main audio output for your video?/JJ
I tried 1 Tele and 2 Strats in this 2020 version, and the quality was clearly inferior to the previous ones. For example, look at the tuning machines: the axis around which each string is wound bend quite significantly under tension! I compared with pre-2020, and they don't bend at all... Maybe I was just unlucky but I returned them all...
Two differences on the new CV’s. No more brass saddles and the tone and volume knobs aren’t the 1950’s type. Still a great guitar. Can’t beat it, especially at 400 bucks!
I bought This same guitar last year. I saw a picture before I had it ordered it and it had brass saddles and a different pickup than the other one but I went ahead and ordered it. It sounds good, I figured I should play the guitar stock for a while and give it a chance. Pretty soon I will probably put brass saddles on it, maybe find some dimes knobs and eventually get a flat pole piece pickup on there. It’s still a really good guitar though.

I still don't like the tall narrow frets on the newer models they wear out too quick rough on your fingers if you have small to medium ones you're screwed like driving over a railroad track on your rims... My opinion on
I bought a Classic vibe Esquire..second hand it was 350Gbp..put callaham compensated brass saddles on it..and a Duncan Antiquity 55 in it...its a bit heavy, the necks a little thin but nice ..its now just awesome..so you get what you pay for I guess.
I’ve got a 2009 model. Original vintage vibe run I think. Brass saddles , string tee is up at the d string tuner and flat knobs and 5 hole pick guard. Neck pickup adjustment is under the guard also. Neck is quite chunky which feels amazing. For comparison.

@@paulbateman81 the pickups won't say "Toneriders " but the number on them is suppose to be similar to Toneriders way of numbering, I found an article that said off the record a Tonerider employee or representative admitted they were the same . The article or possibly a different article listed the Squier model guitar vs the Tonerider model of pickup. The C V. Tele up to model year 2018 had Tonerider hot classics in it. After the lineup overhaul 2019-2020 so far do not have Toneriders but instead are made by Roswell. A big change for Squier eficianados.
That was the most awkward unboxing video ever 😂 Guitar sounds great btw.
I see you changed to brass barrels but I think I will have a tech do it since you had a few minor hiccups when you did yours.

Lol...prior to owning my Tele, I was a Les Paul/Gibson guy all the way (we’re talking 30+ years). It was the urging of a close friend (professional musician) to give the Squier Tele a try. Frustrating, in that it just a whole different t feel than anything I’d played previously. But after test driving it for the past 6 months, I’m deeply in love with the Tele. It is my new go-to...it’s the only guitar I own that sounds good in any style of music (hard rock, blues, jazz, country). I love it!

Definitely! I resisted buying a Tele for sooooo long. Had I known then what I new now, it would have been a slam dunk to purchase a Tele. Btw, my pro musician friend swears that my Squier is better constructed than the majority of his Fender Tele’s. Tone on my Squier is unreal...I didn’t think I’d like the 3-way switch (didn’t imagine the tonal changes would differ all that much). Everything about my Tele exceeded my expectations. One tip: Stock strings don’t stay in tune. I switched to Ernie Ball 11s, and I’ve had ZERO issues keeping the Tele in tune.
