Hi Shannon, i love your art work, you are obviously a talented artist, can I just offer some advice from a photographer & printers point of view, the reason your card prints don’t seem to offer accurate colours, it’s because your using a printer designed for photographs, for you to get more accurate colours & brightness you need to use photo card designed for greetings cards, just like photo papers from Epson & others the photo card & papers have the same type of coatings for the ink to adhere to the paper and card, if you type in Photo card for ink jet printing you will be able to use this to better results with your Epson ET 8500, good luck 😉
Thank you so much for this video Shannon! I make my own cards too & am researching printers for that reason, I have seen this printer pop up lots whilst researching so it’s been lovely to see someone using it to print cards on. Thank you for showing some of your beautiful illustrations too, the cat you’ve been drawing is amazing! Many thanks again & have a great day! Xx

Hi Shannon, thanks so much for your informative videos, you really helped me decide on buying a scanner. I’ve just recently purchased a printer and doing the same with researching papers etc. You probably already know this, but reproducing accurate colours on the paper can be tricky. In order to achieve this, I heard about monitor calibration and ICC profiles talked about a lot. Keith Cooper has great videos explaining these and certain printers in detail. ❤

You're most welcome, thank you for watching! I think I've watched some of his videos and I still couldn't get my head round the ICC profiles for some reason the prints come out really strange when I try using them 😆 I'm sure I'll figure it all out eventually! Thank you for your help I think I need to watch some more videos 🥰🤍
I enjoy watching your videos in the morning while I’m having coffee. Your drawings are so beautiful. Congratulations on your new printer. I wonder if a smoother paper will give you the look you’re looking for with the printer. I’m pretty sure it should take the ink better. I wonder is hot pressed water color paper would do well. It might be a good idea for framed drawings since that would bring in more money since that paper is a little expensive.
Love your work! What kind of art pencils do you use? Also how are you changing your DPI ? Thanks! Your an inspiration!
Hey Shannon, I love your Vlogs!! Please do more. I think You should compare the print to the original drawing. Love you art and playing your vlogs while I paint!!

great video, I just got a Epson 8550, your videos helped me with my decision. One question, did your Epson come with a scanner or was it only the 8550? I've found the scanner excellent

Hi Shannon, this was a very helpful video. I am currrently researching buying a printer for home fine art/card printing etc. I have a desktop which doesn't have a slot for a disc to be inserted so wanted to ask you if you were able to download the software for the Epson via the Epson web site or did you have to get an external disc reader of some sort? Thanks for your help.

When you do prints besides cards do you use the same paper or a different one?

@@shannonmullin yes please let us know! I have a few prints I’d like to try out myself but unsure of what paper to use.
Hi Shannon. Still getting used to this glorious new Epson printer. Just wondered .. When printing you cards, what printer settings do you use? I.e. in the printer options > color Matching, do you use ColorSync or Epson Color Controls. When I use Color Sync it seems I have to use Colour progiles which I haven't a clue about. Also do you use air print or a direct usb connection? Thanks Shannon.
@shannonmullin
11 ай бұрын
I use the ColorSync setting and then print via the wifi connection! I still can't get my head around colour profiles but for some reason when I use the ColorSync setting they're quite accurate, as long as I choose the closest paper type ☺️

Thank shannon for your reply. I have the airprint mode and the wired mode. The airprint mode does not let me choose colour sync but the wired one does. AND what paper type setting do you sue for the Tinterreto gesso paper? I also notice that it prints slowly when I am trying to use a special paper. Any idea on that. thanks for being so helpful. Your work is outstanding. ❤ linda

I just purcharsed this printer and the colors are not it for me - when you say right paper, please explain if you can - I want it to print papers for scrapbooking and want images to look beautiful
@lindacooke8845

@@lenyhorizons6793 First you choose your paper size. For example 12 x 12 is a scrapbook paper size. Then scroll down to printer options and in Color Matching . Here you can try to Epson Color controls or Color Sync. Then to Printer Settings than choose Media type. I have used Bright white which is the closest paper that matches my greeting card stock. Hope this helps.

Hello! You mentioned in the video that the colors weren't printing exactly as you may have liked. How did you go about changing those settings of the colors? I am trying to do that myself now, but I can't find out how, I just need some help please.

Hey! I recently made a more in-depth video on how I prepare my designs for printing maybe this could help 🤍 kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZqN1xtiNl9qqqsY.html
Hi Shannon, how does it handle standard card stock? Around 220gsm? No special finish etc. Thanks
@shannonmullin
5 ай бұрын
Hi Chris! I’m yet to try a thinner card stock but the Epson fine art paper I use is 300GSM (although feels a little thinner than the 300GSM tinteretto gesso I have) and that handles well! It just struggles sometimes with the 300GSM tinteretto gesso and does get little roller marks with the thicker papers and card stocks

Thanks for the quick reply!@@shannonmullin that's helpful. I'm stressed as hastily bought a cheaper ET 1810 the other day and the results aren't great / coming out unsaturated. Ready to pull the trigger on one of these but don't want to have the same issues, although can't imagine it for 4 x the price
How thick is the paper? unfortunatly if its 0,8mm so 280gms or 300gms epson says, the paper needs to be feed from the back (back feeder)
@shannonmullin
4 ай бұрын
It's 300gsm 😞 when I tried using the rear feeder it wouldn't print borderless which was so frustrating! So hard to get it right 🥲😂
Can the printer, print A3. Because im Looking for a new printer.

The bigger model can! It's the Epson ET-8550 and it's exactly the same just bigger ☺️
What are your thoughts regarding that the Epsonprinter uses dyebased ink when you are selling art? I´m looking at this printer myself but worried that my artprints will fade quick :(
@shannonmullin
3 ай бұрын
It’s not ideal, but I sell my prints at a cheaper price point than I would if I used pigment inks or giclée prints! I couldn’t afford one of the expensive archival pigment ink printers so this does the job until I can one day! 😊
@MadebyLinn

@@shannonmullin I totally understand! Do you have any experience with how long the prints can last before fading? Thank you so much for your reply :)

@@MadebyLinn good question! As I’ve only had it for less than a year I can only go off the prints I’ve got in my own home and they look brand new. Online it estimates the colour will look good for 25 years or so? I tend to sell mostly greeting cards with this printer but I’m hoping one day I can upgrade for my prints and get something A3 and archival! ☺️

Can you print on fabric with this printer?
@Cadavu2

If you buy sublimation ink on sublimation paper it will work. You can heat transfer with a press on textile. You cannot use it with other types of ink anymore though.
