Hello, Lovelies! I have now created an updated version of this video about setting up a home studio, which includes setting up HS7 and active/passive speakers and a better explanation of the balanced/unbalanced situation. Also, if you wonder what cables come with HS7 and how to connect monitors to an interface, THAT IS ALL IN THE NEW VIDEO.

Those are some of the best tips on how to setup and calibrate your monitors in your home studio without any fancy expensive mics and softwares. Try recording without white noise from the monitors (record silence) and you will see some frequencies (most likely where you have spikes) are there in the silent room already. Thanks for the video ❤️

Just FYI. The manual shows both the XLR and 1/4 jack as “balanced” so as long as you use a TRS cable both options will be balanced.
Thanks for your video and nice palm trees :) Just wondering, would it make sense to permanently put an EQ plugin on your main output to compensate the boost you are hearing at 120 HZ. Is there anything in trying that.
Ive the exact same monitors, theyre insanely loud! Also top tip - buy some cheap yoga blocks and use those to isolate. I spent a long time testing different isolation materials and the yoga bricks are perfect bang for buck!

Have a look at my recent roo treatment video! I talk more about room correction in that :)
Just a suggestion, try getting the UMIK-1 or a Dayton Audio EMM-6 mic for your speakers/room correction, then download REW, a free room acoustics analysis software for measuring and analyzing room and loudspeaker responses. Your mic condenser is not ideal for room correction as you mentioned on the video, but great video and thanks for the review!

Hi i noticed the balanced speeker out cable looked like a stereo jack plug.. I'm using the steinberg UR44C interface with cubase. Can you plug that cable into the line outputs on that. Plus what did you plug yours into.. ??? Thanks
The manual says that the interface should be connected to the P10 input and mixer should be connected to XLR. Does it make any difference to connect the interface in XLR input?
Does this output work for the solo or do I need this model
Do you think should I go with hs7 for a 2,5mx3m room (2,8 m high) or it's better hs5 for my case. I need low frequencies and I saw that Hs5 aren't to good for low frequencies...

noobie question... I bought a pair of studio monitors (presonus R80s). I plugged scarlett 2i2 in then Powered my monitors on. Then accidently I knocked my USB cable came out on my audio interface - was not intentional. I might just be imagining things (given they're my first studio monitors) but there is very minor noise from the tweeters only with volume off, is this normal? When I play my monitors they sound great... But I can't tell if a slight static noise is normal?

i just found out that if you put the hs facing straight to the back of your room (not the triangle form facing to your head at an angle), you can hear the center of the music better. weird but true.

Greetings, although I might have arrived a bit late, I would like to ask you if the HS5s are worth it, the issue is that I didn't have enough money to invest for the HS7s, and although my room is kinda small, the corner I am going to set them up is way more far than the other corner.. i bought a pair of new Yamaha HS7 monitors, and they worked perfectly the first time i turned them on. went out of town for two weeks, turned them on, and they were making static white noise. figured out that they were making noise even without any other cables being plugged into it(other than the power cord). tried multiple outlets too, and they all gave me the same results. i actually exchanged my HS7's for a new pair, and the new pair had the same problem. my theory is that someone in my building bought a new appliance, and that is what is giving me the interference. need to find a device that can help with this as moving out is not a option.
@theecatindahat
2 жыл бұрын
It must be electrical interference. I had the same problem with one of mine. When I moved it to another location, the noise stopped. I bought some speaker stands and setup in the same location where the noise was happening and all is good so far. I'm thinking there's an electrical cable behind the wall where that speaker is.

In case anyone stumbles on this having the same issue, make sure your computer and speakers are not sharing a plug/power strip. That can cause a ground loop which will create static and drive you crazy
