I have this monitor. If feels cheap, lacks vector scope BUT, my god it looks so damn good and has all the features a beginner will need. It makes a huge difference if you love to focus manually.

The V2 has vectorscope, and you can import LUTs too!

I'd never heard of a field monitor before seeing this video. I love how your videos are educational while being entertaining 😊

Yeah. It is just for the output on the monitor, doesn't change what the camera records.

I'm having an issue with this monitor, or my camera and im not sure which. I plug it into my Nikon D3400 just like you plugged it in and the screen on my Nikon goes black and the monitor doesnt give me any options but PLAY or SLIDESHOW and it lets me view the photos/videos I've already taken. Doesn't work as an external monitor whatsoever. I've gone through settings in the camera and the monitor to try to find something and I cannot figure it out. The D pad on the camera controls the stuff on the monitor so clearly they're communicating. I try to hit the Live View button on my camera, doesn't do anything. Cant take pictures with the camera while the monitor is on.

@@gloriabnz5911 I did but I dont remember what I did. I think it was a setting in the camera somewhere it was so long ago. But it does work!

Excellent presentation sir. I do have a question, I am a DSLR shooter (no video) and need something a bit better to see my images than my backscreen (Nikon D700) Would this be a viable option for that. (Let's face it my eyes are getting old!)

I hooked the passthrough to one of the inputs on my ATEM mini and it only feeds static to my ATEM. The image on the screen looks good though.

@@skeanetubes nope. Upon further testing I can't even passthrough to anything. I'm guessing it's a quality control issue on their cheaper monitors.

I don't think I needed to do anything to activate it, if there is audio coming through the HDMI connector then it should be heard through the headphone socket on the monitor.

@@kiphakes thanks for the reply. That's interesting. I'm using a iPhone 13 with hdmi out. It doesn't seem to be picking up the volume when I add a mic from the monitors headphone output.

How do you set it up to play video while you're recording, kind of like a mirror so I can see where I focus

I don't really understand the question... You just plug it into the HDMI output of the camera and it shows the shot live.

I use this for selfies on my sony a6000 because it doesn't have a flip screen lol.
