My first keyboard. My mother got me this for Christmas. I played it that much, you could see my finger prints on the keys. When I got in from school this was in my hands. Carry it around like it was my liver.

The demo is dope 😂
I had the same as a kid, loved it! Thanks for video:)
Thank you for the memories
I've collected at least 4 of these over the years. I don't know if I have one that works today. But I used to use it to practice choral music. I could enter notes from my score, then set the timing with the one-key-play function which was absolutely perfect. Amazingly, one-key-play, as brilliantly useful as it is, is rare on keyboards and music software.
We had these at school. I wanted one for Christmas but my parents bought me a bontempi reed organ instead 😔 That demo tune has stayed with me for nearly 40 years 😁
My grandmother had one of those! My sisters and I spent hours playing with it and driving our family crazy after church on Sundays. Even after my grandmother acquired a Yamaha Clavinova so we could legitimately practice at her house, we still loved that Casio. Wow, this brings back so many memories!

Wow, you made my day, nostalgia. I had a similar white Casio keyboard, I wish you had played that music tone longer, that was my favorite tone the one key music

Cool toy - I had VL-1 we enjoyed it a lot as kids - today you have a virtual (VST) version you can play with in your DAW / VST Host, quite cool how old stuff comes back, DX-7 and all. Cheers!

The VL-1 is the same but included a calculator, and with that one could create a basic synth with an ADSR-definition!!! I've still got mine 😀
This is hilarious, Tim!! I remember having one of these as a kid too.. I wonder what happened to it??... thanks for sharing. Such a great memory.

So many of us had one. I’m amazed!
I just started searching for 90s mini keyboards because I remember going to "service merchandise" and "sears" as a kid and always looking at them and wanting one. Later when I was a bit older 11 or so I was at a flea market in San Antonio, tx. I saw this exact keyboard with a price tag of $3. I immediately asked my dad for the money amd he pulled put his loose pocket chance and told me to offer her 2 and she said yes. I was so excited to get home and get batteries for it.

OMG! My very first keyboard also. I had two in life; the first in white & the latter black. I still remember that demo song i played to death. Thanks for uploading this, I hadn't seen one since the '80s.

I have the VL-1 which has the same sounds & demo song. It's a really fun little keyboard and i still use the almost haunting and melancholy analogue sounds in my music today

On my keyboard, you could hit one of the keys while in record mode, and it would delete the last note you play the longer you played either the shorter the beat why you deleted something or the longer the beep I don’t remember which. That brought back a lot of memories that was my first keyboard as well back in 1989.

I think that was actually a VL Tone 1 but I see where your coming from I remember when I started getting into keyboards after finding my dads cd collection and listening to Depeche Mode and the Prodigy and New Order and other stuff so my dad has a Yamaha DX7S and I recently started learning on that and I asked my dad if he had another keyboard since he has multiple guitars and he said he had that kind of keyboard the Vl tone and he showed me the da da da video so I knew what he was on about when he said small keyboard since I thought he meant 54 keys or something I know this was a long story but it just reminded me of that time lol
Wow. I had one of these when I was just three years old. It would kind of appear and disappear until I never saw it again. I think I'll buy one, eBay has them for $40.

Hell Yeah! ;-) I played it 40 years ago ;-) Still dont understand the two blue buttons on the right to replay the recorded notes ;-) Maybe because of the tiny keyboard? ;-) nice to see that this "trash" still exists ;-)

A lot of children got into music because of the keyboard. The other reason was because of Vince Clarke.

Very Interesting about the demo - check out this vid kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4532dSdo8i-e6w.html this guy finds the origin of the demo melody. I had one, probably 1987 - 89, when I was 8 or 9. Got it from RadioShack. I played it endlessly. It taught me my earliest lessons about keyboards, tempos, recording, sequencing. The demo will forever be in my brain. I played that melody on my guitar the other day out of nowhere after not hearing or thinking about it for decades. Thats what brought me here.
