Unboxing And Review Of The Stunning Edison Collier Antique Marble Fountain Pen

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I unbox it, talk about the parts and features of the pen, provide some size comparisons and measurements, and then do a writing sample. After the writing sample, I talk about what I like and what I don't like about the pen. Please feel free to use the chapters provided below to skip to various parts of the review.

I've had a Collier in my collection for a couple years now. It is always a pleasure to write with, one of my favorites.

I've had my Collier, in Rock Candy, for about 5 years and it's still in the top tier of all my pens.

I love my Edison Pen! All of them. I have three: 2 Colliers and a Goldspot Exclusive. The Collier is my favorite model by far. I have never had a pen write so well right out of the box. I had a small crack develop in the cap of my special edition pen from Goldspot and Brian and his crew fixed it without any problem. This is the kind of company I love to support. I hope you enjoy your pen,

Love my Collier, and it is a pleasure to use. Agree with you regarding the "sleep on it" attitude, especially when using US$ or Euro's. Glad you pulled the trigger on that one.

Don't have an Edison yet, but their pens were the first gold nibs that I wrote with at the Ohio Pen Show.

I had 3 Edison pens, one of them a custom-built (light blue and dark blue longitudinal stripes, re-nibbed with a 14k flex nib). I gave one of my Edisons away to a co-worker the day I retired from the Pentagon. Edison has a large choice of filling systems (no lever-fill though). I spoke to Brian at last year's DC Fountain Pen Supershow.

Gorgeous pen, great review. I own several Edisons and I agree with everything you said. The people at Edison are really great to talk to and work with. They are very communicative and helpful and stand by their work. Glad you are enjoying the Collier. By the way, that stub nib added real panache!

Glorious pen! I live in Ohio, and at the Ohio Pen Show I almost have to avert my eyes walking by the Edison table. Soooo tempting! Some day.... Your point about the difference in writing with the Jowo steel or gold is well taken. I have a Hardy Penwrights 10-T with a beautiful resin -- I think it was called "Middle Earth" -- that deserves a gold nib for the visuals, but the steel nib writes so well I just can't bring myself to swap it out.

@@InkquiringMinds Well! I'd have guessed the opposite. Of course, I have enough pens rotating in and out of use that I shouldn't think I'd wear them out in my lifetime even if I were the age when I started with fountain pens in 1969.

It isn’t the wear so much as the corrosion. Steel will corrode, gold won’t.

Thank you for mentioning FP prices in general and how you often make your purchasing decisions. I myself do it the same way. This particular model of an US made FP is really stunning and seems to be a well made writing instrument. Even I don't really miss the non existing cap band with that design which I would normally do. Have fun and enjoy it.

Happy Canada Day! I have a few Edison Pens: my last purchase was the Collier Galaxy, a special edition from Atlas Stationers. beautiful Jonathon Brooks acrylic. I love those pens and the care that Brian takes on his pens. I am considering the Jameson (I think that is what is called) with the #8 nib, although the price is not low. We'll see! I like yours as well, and who knows, I may give my Collier a twin sister !

What a beautiful pen, Doug! Thanks for showing it, and I am sure you are going to reach for this pen for years to come. I also appreciate the Diamine Ancient Copper ink. I have been inking up my pens with Hazelnut but I have a Benu Bourbon which this ink will partner with just nicely. Have a great week and Happy Canada Day. BTW there's some ex Royals that might be looking for new cheap housing soon. Anything up your way?

I have had an Edison Collier Persimmon Swirl (fine nib) for a number of years. It is one of the first "serious" fountain pens I bought. It is so beautiful I have not been able to bring myself to ink it up. Stupid, yes. I know that. I hold it and look at it from time to time. And I am often on the verge of using it. But, I just have a mental block about writing with it. Like as if I would deface it by using it. Consequently, though you are tempting me Doug, I am biting my lip, telling myself: I don't need to spend more US dollars for an Edison Collier that I will likely never bring myself to use. (P.S, I bought mine from the company back then. I feel that Goldspot charges like 10% or so, even 15%, too much.)

Gorgeous looking pen! I ended up getting a 601 flight with the fude nib because of you! Love how it writes, and the pump filling is fun too. The cap feels like it grinds and marks up the pen body when closing, has that been your experience with it too? (Not that I expect a e95s-esque like closing feel, but the 601 is a rough closer)
