Unboxing and Review Bosch 18V Unlimited Series 6 Cordless Handstick Vacuum BCS61

House chores can be quite intimidating and tiring. Keeping your house dust free is one of the basic house maintenance tasks of any home. While the standard cabled, plug and pull vacuum cleaners remains more powerful and friendlier on our pockets, cordless vacuum cleaners are getting more popular thanks to the ergonomic designs and innovation in suction power.
Today we look at the Bosch 18V Unlimited Series 6 cordless handstick vacuum BCS61 which is both a red dot design as well as an iF design award winner in 2020. As my old Hoover handstick vacuum with a non-removable battery broke down, I was looking for a new replacement.
Deciding between a Dyson and the Bosch, we agreed to go with its less intrusive colour scheme which is a mix of glossy classic white and matted black design with a tint of red.
The good thing about handstick vacuum cleaners is the mobility. Whether you need it for a quick clean up in the house or in your car, you don't have to worry about fussy wires and power sockets as it is run by a removable 18v 2.5Ah battery which also works for many other Bosch home tools.
The device has a runtime of 30mins on normal mode and if you need a longer runtime, you are able to buy an additional battery and charger set. On this model I had an offer of either a second battery or a 50EUR discount. I took the discount as I am able to find a local retailer selling the battery and charger set for lesser than 50EUR.
The floor nozzle is indeed easy to maintain with its screwless, removable power brush. The other included accessories such as the 2 in 1 furniture brush with upholstery nozzle and the crevice nozzle can be improved in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, they are very creative and innovative. They are possibly useful in certain situation, for eg. the flexible crevice nozzle could reach better angles at hard to reach places.
With that being said, I will take some time to adapt to using the new accessories while knowing their limitations. So overall, I would still recommend this Bosch vacuum cleaner for its solid build quality and design.
I hope my video helped in making your purchasing decision. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you all for your support for my Bosch 18V Unlimited series 6 Vacuum video. Here's a quick 2 year after update. The vacuum is still working with accessories showing the typical wear and tear. However, the included 2.5Ah battery is dead and I purchased a new BOSCH 5.0Ah battery(BHZUB1850) to replace it. Double the runtime and fits in the wall dock! Hope this helps! BOSCH 5.0Ah battery(BHZUB1850) - amzn.to/3tSnrU4 Please do like the video if you found it helpful, subscribe if you want to see more! Awesome well explained review, thank you for confirming I've made a great choice. The nozzle piece in South Africa is way more sturdier though. Anyway, loved how you highlight the unit cannot stand on it's own but equally showing us alternatives for storage purposes. Furthermore, quite appreciated your demonstration on cleaning & maintenance . Bless you for the phenomenal effort in helping others.

    Hello! Thank you for your lovely compliments. I'm glad you found it helpful. As for the nozzle, I'm unsure if it's something they refined in terms of design materials or a matter of using different supplier from another manufacturing location but thank you for sharing that. I think a little sturdier will probably work better so you're lucky! Thanks again for watching, cheers!

    I'm thinking to buy it. I am between this one and rowenta flex aqua. But i want to know if bosch unlimited 6 can work on carpets and how long the battery lives with everyday use. If you buy a new battery how much does it costs?

  • @dyloncai

    Hello there! Thank you for reaching out! I can't speak for the Rowenta since I don't use it but I can tell you the Bosch can work on carpets(turbo mode). I don't know how big or thick your carpet is, I have 2 small carpets about 1m by 1.5m each and a carpet area around 2m by 2m. I replaced my battery only after 2 years, I think(if I remember right) the battery performance was reduced after about 1.5 years. The new battery I bought was double capacity and cost 80€. The original 2.5Ah ones cost about 30-60€. Hope this helps!

    Hi Dylon, what you think of this Bosch Cordless Vacuum compared with Dyson V11? im in the mid of choosing either one of those.

  • @dyloncai

    @dyloncai

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your interesting question! Although I do not own a Dyson V11 to be able to do a proper comparison, I was able to do a quick look at some videos about it. A quick Google search brings the price also to my attention that the Dyson V11 is 2x the price of the Bosch. My opinion is that it really depend on your needs in the house(carpet floors, hard floors etc.). If you're not bound by budget, go for the Dyson. Otherwise, I feel that you can get the Bosch which will work for most people and use the extra budget for a robot vacuum(Xiaomi). The robot does most of the maintenance work. My Bosch works to cover what the robot can't do(counter tops, ceilings). Its performance is sufficient for me(mostly hard floors). Hope that helps. Cheers.

    How long does it take to charge until I unplug it from the electricity?

  • @dyloncai

    @dyloncai

    4 ай бұрын

    Hello there! Thank you for your question and it's a good one! I don't have the precise answer to it since I don't unplug it from the wall socket after it is fully charged. I also didn't time the charge/drain duration, but the only time the vacuum cleaner couldn't perform when I needed it was due to the battery failing with time. The charge was sufficient for about 25 - 30 mins on normal mode and lesser on turbo. Hope that helps.

    Thank you for your questions! I feel that my opinions on the device remained as the video and I'm still using the vacuum cleaner. There is one thing about the flexible crevice nozzle is that I found it useful in certain situation. For eg, in between fabric car seats and sofas. The material is softer than a plastic nozzle so it won't scratch or damage our belongings.

    There is a minor bug, but I don't know if it's due to the battery. Sometimes when I return it to the docking station, it will not show the blinking white light which means it isn't charging. I will have to take it out and put it in again and that works. In my opinion, it's either a bug or a battery issue. It wasn't like that when I first got it. Other than this, it's the usual wear and tear of any product. The machine still works fine, which is why I am replacing just the battery to give it new life. I'll probably update again either by a pinned post or maybe a follow up video. Thank you for your question and happy holidays!
