Unboxing: Airspeed Horsa Glider

Ойындар

This week John and Justin take a look at a laser cut Airspeed Horsa Glider from Sarissa Precision.
Capable of carrying up to thirty paratroopers, these British made gliders saw heavy use throughout World War II.
An estimated 250 were deployed during the Battle of Normandy in British and American operations and as many as 5,000 were produced by the end of the war.
Normally Justin tackles the MDF kits but this time around John tries his hand at the glider and discovers an issue with the clarity of the instructions.
Do you guys have experience with MDF kits?

Walking in the foot prints of heroes & giants when someone visits those sites, definitely. Plus, we're living in the foot prints of those same heroes & giants everyday, no matter where we are.

12:42 The Halifax Tug planes had a small bomb load. So when they dropped the glider they dropped their bombs on Caen so they didn't look suspicious. The Germans just thought it was a bombing raid.

The operation dropping the dummies was called Operation Titanic, Along with them a few SAS soldiers making extra (recorded battle) noise. For a fact German send extra troops to these areas. Later during Operation Market-Garden a similar operation was done but without SAS soldiers. This was a failure as it was hardly noticed.

1/56th - Sarissa have made it gaming scale rather than true scale and the side door is meant to be able to open as well so is built to come off and position for your jeep to enter/disembark :)

It really bugs me when people like john use paratroopers to refer to airlanding troops. It's an incredibly minor grievance but bc he gets so much right it just sticks out like a sore thumb. Nithing against john tho we all make mistakes just my brain putting on its own tiny anorak. For those who don't know Airborne divisions were broken into 2 Parachute brigades, and 1 Airlanding brigade. The paras had virtually no support equipment, just some MGs and Mortars dropped in boxes with them. Airlanding used the gliders and brought the jeeps the artillery and the "tanks" (tetrarch)
