Beautiful !!! Looks just the one I was given in 1957 in my stint in the regulars. Best military rifle ever devised. Began firing the M-1 in 1954 as a member of the National Guard.
Such a beautiful weapon. I to purchased a M1 Garand Expert grade through the CMP last Spring. It is one of my most cherished firearms.
Very well done and a beautiful rifle. Congratulations!

The rifle on everyones bucket list. Cant go wrong
Lucky man ! Your wife knows how to take care of you that's for sure. Thank you for sharing with us 👍
I was lucky enough to come across one back in the day some elderly gentleman who was moving into a retirement home and he couldn't take his guns so he had to sell them, the model that he had ...had white belting on it it from the muzzle to the stock.. was a different model made by Winchester from the 60s it didn't have the screw on like locking fixture that goes on the end of the barrel that keeps the assembly all on there ... so that gun I got for like $60🤠 and I got a couple hundred rounds of ammunition with it and it was a lot of fun to shoot I did end up selling it to a gun dealer who refurbished the whole thing had it re stained& blued, original style and he put it in a nice box with the glass on it and all this fancy stuff and he sold it for like $800 at a gun show🙈..I regret selling it...
What a presentation, 👏 👏 👏 I'm so proud of you!!
Wow, that is one beautiful rifle. Me so envious.
WOW! Aside from a couple of scratches it looks brand new!
Absolutely stunning!

Thank you brother. I am proud to be part of so much history.
Awesome, beautiful gun! I got one of my own recently! Springfield also! 1942! CMP Expert Grade! M1 Garand is the Hero!!!🇺🇸💥🇺🇸
The most beautiful rifle ever made!! In my opinon!
What a beauty !
Stock needs some raw linseed oil. You can use boiled, but raw will give it the reddish patina over time. Raw was what was used in the dipping tanks.

I ended up using Tung oil on my wood, does the same process apply?

@@thebennettbulletin3462, It’s pretty much the same process. I understand that Tung oil was used later in the war, just because it takes less time to dry than the BLO. I put on multiple coats of BLO and it turned out well, but only because that was what I had on hand and BLO is a bit easier to find and has drying agents to make the process faster and has a nice finish. One thing, find a good wood wax and buff it in which will seal the oil finish in, make it more durable, although Tung oil is already better than BLO as far as waterproofing is concerned. I got my Expert a few months before you; you got a very clean rifle with nice wood, and your gas cylinder and cylinder lock are also in slightly better shape, but that’s the luck of the draw. Thanks for sharing! 👍

@@E.L.RipleyAtNostromo Thanks for the amazing recommendations! I'll look around for a nice wood wax/buff to apply. Would you have any recommendations?

@@thebennettbulletin3462 The only one I heard recommended and used was Minwax paste wax. Seems like good stuff, but it's an old formula. There might be better / newer options, but the main idea is just to seal the wood a bit more over the bare oil. Made sense to me, and I used to do that on bookcases I had made and stained.
Gorgeous!
I love my IHC expert. A less expensive option is the CMP Rack Special at $900.00.
A piece of History !!!
I really need to order one. I believe I qualify by being a retired MSgt and having qualified expert marksmanship. I need to look deeper into the CMP requirements.
Nice gun!.. i have had several!... that wood needs some boiled linseed
I brought my M- 1 home from Viet Nam in a duffel bag as they were changing from That to the M- 14 at that time!! government did not care as they had no plans to keep any of the old guns!!!!
I guess CMP ditched the cases specifically for the Garand?
I got their service grade +1 barrel and throat. Pretty nice rifle but I’m unable to take off the gas lock screw, it’s so tight. Was yours the same?
Easy to purchase from CMP .

really confused by what you have there. Expert grade should have a New Barrel with Muzzle wear of Zero, not 1. and there should not be any dings in the furnature

I wondered that exact same thing, new barrel should be zero and zero. Beautiful rifle otherwise, but I’d call and ask them about it just so I knew.

You received a beauty from CMP! I’ve purchased 4 expert grades with receivers from SA, IH, H&R and Winchester. All four had very minor dings or blemishes on their stocks. The walnut wood is new and soft right now, in a few years it will harden like most wood does. I used fine steel wool just to smooth out the depressions then slathered BLO on all three pieces of furniture (I separated from the rifle first). Let dry for a few hours then wiped off any excess oil and you have the most beautiful rifle on the planet IMHO. I’ve read where you can steam out the dings using a clothes iron. The method is shown on a couple of KZread posts.
Why do all these posters have to play annoying music, just show the rifle with a little comment.

Cut the crappy music - it does not belong in your video- It has greater meaning than your attempt at making a few dollars

It is a no way shape or form anything like that. That rifle was based off a German and French design and is nothing like an M1
Why is the sight so far to the left?
I'd love to buy a rifle from the CMP if they didn't make it so damn difficult. Such a fudd thing to do to make you join some BS organization and fill out a bunch of paperwork just to buy a rifle.

@@E.L.RipleyAtNostromo it takes me roughly 3 minutes to fill out a background check form at my local gun store. Except for having to prove the fact that you're not a felon you shouldn't have to prove anything else to anyone just to buy a rifle. Like proving membership in some club or marksmanship related activities or having a permit from the state to exercise your right to defend yourself. Buying an 80 year old rifle should not be made as exclusive as the CMP makes it but they do for whatever reason even though there's literally millions of them.

@@E.L.RipleyAtNostromo I have a Garand and I didn't need to join a club to buy it. I'm sure you don't mind all the red tape being from California, but in the rest of the country we have this cool thing called the second amendment. I'm also a veteran so I don't need a CCW to buy from the CMP but I still think it's absolutely ridiculous how difficult they make it for law abiding Americans to buy a nearly century old rifle. Sure it's their rifles their rules but that doesn't mean their rules aren't fucking dumb fuddery.

@@E.L.RipleyAtNostromo you seem to be the one throwing a tantrum here, I'm just stating my opinion that the CMP makes buying a rifle way more difficult than it should be. Typical boomer though you love government overreach, dumb rules, and clunky outdated systems and detest improvement to them of any kind. That checks out.
