Let me share my experience here at the point of entry. In 2014, my school resumed on September 28, but I left Nigeria on October 8. But before leaving, I asked the school to give me a letter in case I was asked for the delay. It was as if I knew that they would ask me too many questions. And funny enough, I couldn't see a flight going to Scotland with the airfare budget. So I will opt for Heathrow and then plan to get a bus to Scotland (I had asked a brother to book night bus because I will arrive at heathrow at 7pm). At the POE, all the questions began. I was able to defend myself with a letter and explain why I had the option to take the bus to Scotland. I notice that if you cannot defend yourself with valid documents, you will be deported. At least five people were deported from the plane I boarded.

Just come back to Nigeria and stay in Nigeria. Abroad is BAD for Nigerians.

I genuinely want to know as a Public Health Nurse Practitioner in the US that works with incoming migrant groups. I went into this field with purpose and intent to help others. Especially “our people” and I’m genuinely trying to wrap my head around how they come here expecting mansions, free cars, food, brand new clothes (apparently donated ones are “NOT GOOD!!!”. Their entitlement gives me secondhand embarrassment and I’m really trying to understand how they go through the process of getting illegally smuggl3d through SEVERAL safe, welcoming countries and complain about “difficult” a journey no one told them to embark on is as if it gives them a golden ticket to a quality of life FARRRRR better than most ACTUAL American Citizens. A few years ago I lived in my CAR with my 6 y/o daughter because there was no room at DV (domestic violence) shelters and I was so grateful for whatever support I could get so it’s beginning to make a LOT of American citizens very irate. Is it that they don’t understand US laws and how cumbersome all the paperwork can be. But they entered ILLEGALLY so their so called demands for “what they were promised” is absolutely REPREHENSIBLE!!! I want to continue to extend empathy but going out of your way for the ungrateful would wear on ANYONE…are they just not doing their own research or are they really that disillusioned with their expectations??? Appreciate any insight anyone may have.
If you cannot provide documents and speak boldly with these border officers, you will ask way out from the airport. How can not he tell them he will stay with someone or has booked hotel, even show them hotel document? They have observed his body language.

I think am lucky, at point of entry the interviewer was just making joke with me. He was like are you tired , you looked tired from the stress of the journey and i said yes. Couple with my baby bouncing on me. And we both laughed...he said why are you here and i reply...man said do have a great stay in great Britain... Alhiamdulilahi
