If you watch for the road markings, left lane does get marked as A1 (or M1) and right lane A64 so the car sits in the lane marked for where it wants to go. The road actually has a slip road off to the left for the A1/M1 (whichever it is) so it's understandable that they sat in that lane, it's also understandable taking care on the left side of lorries.

They would anyway. The vehicle sat next to the cyclist for some distance prior to turning left so all those people would say "It is the fault of the cyclist for not dropping back to a position the driver could see". There is not a lot of logic in the application of road rules vis a vis cyclists.

And rightly so, because it's exceedingly rare that racing cyclists aren't at fault in a crash. Also this crash is basically 50/50 in terms of fault. Sure, Tesco driver's a blind fool, but the racing cyclist is looking at an indicator light for a full second going "Naah, that's probably just for decoration, I won't react at all and just YOLO in there". Then when it's clear the indication meant something, apparently he didn't know how to operate his flimsy-looking brakes. And instead of steering hard left to avoid a crash, cyclist decides to test if he can push the truck out the way, which is a galaxy-brain decision. Not sure why the lycra-pirate wears a helmet: Doesn't appear to be any vital organs inside there.

I suspect the Peugeot driver was following the instructions on the satnav. Which says take the exit and then keep right. So he did. When he realised it is then two lanes he moves over. As for driving at 50mph I'm not so sure. He is clearly driving faster than the HGV which will either be at 52mph or 56mph. So I suspect he was doing at least 60mph. I'm not sure a combination of going a little slow and not being sure of the road layout is enough for the cammer to madly flash their lights.

It looks to me like the Peugeot wasn't a local and didn't realise the lane he was in effectivley became a dual carraigeway further down the road, the cammer needs to lighten up rather than going into entitled D!ck mode. The guy got into the left lane as soon as he could and it would have been sooner had two othe d!cks not decided to undertake him. Let's face it this is a minor mistake that anyone could make in similar circumstanses and we all need to be a bit more understanding and less judgemental.

2:20 Im on that A64 turn off quite a lot and people always do this, I think it's because the lanes split between York and Leeds and they don't want to be caught out. Also a road joins from the left about 500 yards after the junction so maybe they are staying clear of the slip road

A lot of the problem is due to badly designed overhead signage. If you look, there are two sets of arrows on the sign. There are two below "York", indicating you can use either lane to join the A64, and one to the right of "York" pointing straight on. That "straight on" arrow aligns with the right hand lane, and can be interpreted as use RH lane for A64/York. I have a friend who has lived in York for 35 years who has used the RH lane here ever since it was built, and still insists that this is what the signs instruct you to do...

I drove that road last month for the very first time. My sat-nav repeatedly said ‘keep right’ and with not knowing the road and all the signage I did exactly what the Peugeot did but only 10-15 mph faster. Once I realised the layout I moved over. I think cammers sometimes forget that they too can ‘misdrive’ on new roads when the satnav and the wife are barking out instructions and advice some of which is not always accurate.

I am always amazed at the quality of the last clip on these uploads even though it is the same one at the end every time, its nice to watch each time lol

Didn’t there used to be a web site that you could report such crappy driving to, and the video could be uploaded. I was told the insurance companies loved it because when their client recorded an accident they could look up to see their general standard of driving and act accordingly.

In the last clip neither are great. David had the opportunity to move left but chose not to. Then instead of letting the Yaris complete he speeds up to close the gap as some kind of telling off. Pretty pathetic really.

4:54 I dont understand.. the tesco van wasnt driving itself. there is clearly no one else in it. tescos will have had records of who was driving it.. they clearly know who he was if this went to court. its not really a question of nominating a driver... HE WAS DRIVING! needs more than some fines for a techincality.

Open footage of the Nissan Juke turning left from right-hand lane, saving less than a minute's worth of delays... Well worth it considering they'll then have to pootle along the Grane Road with its averaging speed cameras all the way to Blackburn. 😂

The directional arrow signs on the gantry for these two lanes can be clearly seen. The Peugeot was therefore correct in being in the outside lane

He's clearly going faster than 50mph aswell judging by how he was easily going faster than the lorries.

Purgeot was driving correctly - presumably new to the area and there were signs for turning left and another implying stay right. He obviously did not know you could use both lanes for the right-hand sign as he moved over immediately he realised he could use both lanes. Absolutely correct driving for someone who was a stranger to the area, as he oviously was. Van on pavement - no problem with that as long as there was room for a pram or wheelchair to pass, which it looked like there was. You seem too critical at times.

So the one at 4.20 witnessed the crash & had it on camera, then drove off!

So happy they took my licence off me, but same fools use the foot path and shopping centres to, so no getting away from them

@goodyeoman4534 He used the dropped kerb of the crossing to make it easier to get onto the road, he wasn't using it as a crossing. Honestly if he actually got off the bike, walked into the middle of the road, then got back on the bike it'd be a bigger issue than just riding into the lane like he wanted to(he just needs to stop to make sure he's clear to go rather than just hoping traffic sees him first).

It's a little worse than that because he passed the cyclist 4 seconds earlier so should have known he was there _and_ rule 140 "You should give way to cyclists in a cycle lane including when they are approaching from behind you - do not cut across them when you are turning or changing lane. Be prepared to stop and wait for a safe gap before crossing the cycle lane.".

Some of these cammers would benefit from having patience.

If the Yaris had room to undertake, you had room to move back left.

i actually didnt know this so had to check my highway code book. As a cyclist i try my best to avoid anything illegal and you're 100% right. Rule 64 of the highway code - cyclist are to dismount and walk across. Then again, i never ride on the pavement unless its a cycling pavement.

Well it's what the Highway Code calls them so I suggest you take up your complaint about calling zebra crossings, zebra crossings, with them. There's also pelican, puffin, toucan, pegasus and staggered crossings, just in case you need something more to rail against.

I was walking along the canal path when one of those bikes with trailer and child came by. He went over a bump the child trailer detached and the rider sped off into the distance, i towed the trailer with the child in for over 2 miles before the rider came back and caught up with me, he was very upset and couldn't thank me enough but surely there should be some sort of safety device to prevent it from happening.

If you are referring to the driver of the Tesco vehicle, the only thing I think he should be given is his P45 and words of advice to find another job that doesn't involve operating a vehicle.
